Food storage
Can anyone recommend a company for long term food storage? So many companies advertising emergency food supply but hard to vet the online reviews. Appreciate any personal experience. I figure there must be a few preppers/survivalists here.
NB: Not interested in canned horse meat or thousand island dressing. TIA ![]() |

I have used Mountain House stuff for backpacking for 30+ years. Currently keep 2-3 weeks of food on hand in case SHTF.

![]() Edit: just went to their website: "Thank you for visiting Mountain House! We are currently not accepting orders online or over the phone while we check our inventory levels. Please do not call. We will resume taking orders tomorrow at noon (12pm) PST Thursday February 27, 2020." Another waitlist. |

Why don't you choose from this list? Pros and cons are available
No personal experience, unfortunately. Just visit downtoearthhomesteaders. com and find the next article "The 8 Best Survival Food Companies for Long Term Food Storage Compared" P.S. I'm not allowed to post links, so I'm sorry for such view. |

I can vouch for the quality of Mountain House products. But I suggest you can do a very good plan without leaving it to the prepper supply houses.
Buy the basics at any Walmart, Sams, Costco. Do the work yourself. Large size canned goods if all types, large bags of rice, beans, pasta, canned meats, etc. The buckets of freeze-dried and dehydrated meals are more for bug-out, go bag situations versus shelter in-place or quarantine in-place. Costco is the best deal on dehydrated food stuffs. Their Mountain House box (about 15 meals) is half the cost per meal of any local outdoors shop in Denver.
