Quicksand...

I grew up in the 1960s and almost every western show I watched, had a quicksand scene. As a kid I was afraid of quicksand, .. I saw an insurance commercial yesterday with quicksand in it and that got me wondering, is quicksand even real?
Was it simply old western lore?

Welcome to the dumbest post ever..

I've walked into quicksand but it wasn't very deep.
It was hard to get my feet up, but that was about it.

It's real.

Not the dumbest Q either. I had a friend once ask me if "grass was man made". LOL!

I remember playing outside with friends and pretending certain spots were quicksand. It was definitely something we knew about but never saw in person.

I have fallen in snow a few times and had to wriggle my way out. Childhood memories of quicksand in westerns quickly set in.

I have been caught in quicksand, caused by an underground aquifer, was real scary, my mate was able to get me out with a rope

I remember quicksand being a thing when I was a kid as a consequence of watching too many westerns. I have never run into "quicksand" but I was hiking once with heavy photography equipment and sunk into thick mud up to my crotch and for a little bit it felt pretty dicey until I was able to extricate myself after considerable effort and at the time I was having perceived quicksand flashbacks.

Based off cartoons, I definitely thought it would present a much larger problem in adulthood than it has thus far....

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional

Quicksand reminds me of two things:

1 - the scene from princess bride
2 - the scene from the never ending story

You can tell I’m an 80’s child!

If you were a child of the 50s you may have said Lawrence of Arabia.

Agreed. I hope to never find myself in quicksand but now know how to escape with my life and a bit of sand in my briefs.

Stepped into a small pit in central FLA around Juniper Springs as a 12y.o. kid.

It was only 2’ wide but one leg was swallowed up to my hip in 30 seconds. I was looking like a goner in my young mind but of course I wasn’t in real danger - just real scared.
