Right place, right time!
I may be the luckiest person in the world this past weekend. I reluctantly stopped into my local AD in the mall this past weekend inquiring about a SS Sky-Dweller. I almost didn’t even bother because I know how these lists works and how rare these watches are but I figured I would ask. I have a history with this AD purchasing watches and jewelry casually for the past 7 years. I asked the rep about the SS Sky-Dweller and she told me that all previous customers can put their name on a list and when they come in you can get picked based on your purchasing history, yada yada yada. Since I was in the market for a new watch, she tried to talk me into putting my name in for a different watch that I will have a realistic shot of getting. She said they don’t see many SS Sky-Dwellers and they have a decently long list of long time customers who are waiting. I told her I was in no rush but that was a watch that I really wanted so I didn’t care about waiting if it meant a chance.
I filled out the request and went on my way. I was meeting my fiancé in the mall for lunch so I headed over to the restaurant. I was just seated when I received a phone call from an unknown number. It was the regional manager of the AD letting me know she received my request. She remembered me from last year when I was purchasing a bracelet for my fiancé and told me she had a black dial SS Sky-Dweller in the safe that came in the previous day. She asked if I wanted it. Needless to say I left the restaurant to go back to the store to buy. I guess the moral of the story is that it never hurts to ask. I waited a total of 20 minutes for the call back that I was told could take years. I felt so lucky after this that I went back today to put my name on the list for a Batgirl. I have a feeling I won’t be so lucky this time 😂. |

Congrats! That is lucky indeed. I just lucked out similarly when I walked into my AD last week, and my sales guy said "I've got something nice for you if you want it" and pulled out the blue Sky Dweller I had been waiting for. I had no intention of buying anything, and no idea he had it for me. I guess we can both attest to miracles happening sometimes!
