Does a Sub Date get noticed more then Sub ND / SD / DEEPSEA?
For those that have or have had a Sub Date AND one of the others, would you say the Sub date gets noticed more because of the cyclops?

I don't own a Deepsea but I do have a Sea-Dweller and a Sub-date. I'd have to answer no to your question - people tend to recognise the watch as being a Rolex and little else because they generally don't know what the Cyclops signifies.

Well have both and in the 30 odds years of Rolex watch wearing. You could count the times on one hand that anyone has recognised any Rolex watch cyclops or not.

Only people that are into watches will notice. None of my friends are into watches and couldn't care less. Most would think us all daft for spending so much money on them. Imo, you should buy the one you like best. Everyone on TRF will love whatever you get. I can understand that its difficult to make a choice. If you are not a rich man, you will only buy one, and they are all great watches. I tried on sub, SD and GMT last week and you know what? I looked great in all of them! Good luck with your purchase, after all its not the worst thing in the world to have to decide between them Mark |

The TT Blue Sub I had at one time was noticed more than any other including the 18Kt Blue Sub.

In 6 months of owning my Sub LV I have had a handful of comments. Mostly from people that know I am into watches. I would think the DSSD would draw comments because of the size and the cyclopse seems to draw attention-good or bad.

Actually, if I'm not close enough to be able to see the dial or cyclops (some non-Rolex watches have cyclops), then the next thing I try to look at in order to determine if it's a Rolex is the bracelet!

Nobody gives a hoot about the watch, for the most part. However, as was indicated above, my LV gets noticed a lot more than any of the others ever did, mainly by women who are generally trendy and fashionable.

The only Rolee that has ever had a few interests was my TT Blue Serti Slate. I guess the Diamonds and Sapphires got their attention.
I do notice people in business like car sales or other high ticket item sales seek to check your watch out thinking your live game. Never had them say anything buy I've seen them eye ball mine. |

I had worn Sub dates and a Sub 5513 for years and received virtually no comments. However, I recently bought a Sub LV and have had several comments in the last two months. Must be the green.

I get this at restaurants too. I always get compliments on the PAM88. People fishing for sales seem to know watches. Everybody else could give a hoot! |

I have been in to my AD several times with my vintage 1675 and they look at me like it ids fake and cannot be bothered with me. I just went in this weekend with my 116710 on and they were all over me like white on rice. They had on the counter at one time the Omega PO orange bezel the smaller PO black bezel (my son wanted to try it on) the Speedmaster, Two TOGs both TT one with a Super Jubilee the other with oyster, the LV and the black bez sub. As I was looking at the increasing pile of watches on the counter I notice the nice sign next to the Rolexes it said “Due to insurance reasons we are only allowed to have one watch out of the case at a time” boy did I feel special. With all this being said the sales lady asked which model I had on and what was my son wearing. This was by far the best I have ever been treated at my AD. Make sme kinda wish I wanted another watch. I have my son the choice once and for all speak now or forever hold your piece. Do you want a new Omega PO or Speedmaster or for me to have Mr. Ridley restore the 1965 GMT Master. He picked the GMT restoration. |

In Toronto, I don't think anyone knows that the cyclops is a Rolex invention and more who would not think that it was on Rolex watches only. At least I didn't before I started shopping for one.
Heck, I had a Swatch that had a cyclops on it. It was no big deal. I had an SD4000 for 2 years. I've had sales-people make indirect comments about it which would lead me to believe they made them because they saw mine on my wrist. All the other's who've noticed have mostly been co-workers and friends who know what a Rolex watch looks like. I've since purchased a SDDS but as it's still cold out and I'm still wearing warm jackets so I can't comment on strangers noticing and asking questions. |

My black GMT 16710 and Sub 14060 almost never are noticed, and are worn daily. I do tend to notice the cyclops on others when I'm out and about.

My IWC gets noticed a lot more than my Rolex. Must be the alligator strap!
The only compliments I have received are from people who know I am into watches or those who like accessories and are attracted to the 316L shine of the bracelet. When I'm watch spotting, the Oyster/Jubilee bracelet is the first thing I notice. |
