Used Rolex-Canada; Best Places?

Morning gents:

Any suggestions here for the best place to buy used in Canada? Besides price, my main concern is and always would be ensuring that the piece is legit.

Short of buying from someone I know directly--which can be hit and miss--can you Canucks out there give me the names of any ADs from which you've bought used in the past?

Ontario and Quebec sources would be best, but I would consider anywhere in the country.

Thanks,

Chris

Does Isaac have a storefront or store name? Isaac the jeweller sounds like the name of a character from the movie "Snatch"...

Yo Solar!

There is a guy here in the heart of Downtown Toronto that specializes in selling/finding used Rolex watches as well as a bunch of other luxury brands.

His website and company name is www.watchfinder.ca

In fact, if you click the link above (TOP WATCH SITE #6) on any of the TRF pages, you'll go directly to a list of all the top watch sites on the internet. Well this "watchfinder" gent is listed in the top 50. I think he may be #47???

In addition to his website, he does have a place of business. He works inside one of those Jewellery-Malls located at Dundas Square off the corner of Yonge St. and Dundas St. In fact, he's 50 feet from The Canon Theatre (aka Pantages Theatre).

That mall is open from 10am to 6pm. I've never been inside and infact, I got out of work early last Friday and missed him by 10 minutes as they already had the doors locked to the mall.

His business/counter is located in the corner of the building right next to a huge window, so you can see inside. I could see he was inside dealing with a last-minute customer while his assistant was putting the watch-trays into this big black safe. He has all those little Omega and Rolex watch-displays in the window where he can set his watches for viewing from the outside.

He looks legit and I'd assume if he doesn't have what you're looking for, he'll go out and look for it for you.

He's been there for at least the past 3 years that I know (As that's when I started looking for Rolex watches).

Let me know if you end up talking to this guy. As his hours are awkward, I'd have to go down there on my lunch hour and it's a 5 minute subway ride.

In addition, I checked out his website and he has a column on his home-page for links to other watch-dealers.

There's one site for a place that's been mentioned here before. It's called "Demesy Watches" out of Toronto. I took a look at his site and he's got tons and tons of Rolex's. It looks like 96 pages worth? He has them in all sorts of condition from BNIB, to used. Some of his prices look reasonable.

His prices seem pretty high for what you get. A used YG day-date for $28000?

Been to both the Yorkville and Eglinton store. Almost but never bought anything from them but their pre-owned inventory seems legit plus they a have a refund policy that backs their products sold. They sell new as well but Gray Market so one would have to confirm warranty.

WatchFinder is a fantastic establishment. Sean is a super great guy. Go to the Yorkville shop.

For Montreal, check out Matt Baily. Jason is a great salesman. Both Sean and Jason are good friends of mine.

All the best to you.

I know the guy that owns Watchfinder.ca. Everything he handles is good quality. Harmonyhousejewlers.ca is also reputable and can get you anything you want. I have had experience with both.

Tell us what you are looking for. I get my watches all over but not necessarily always within Canada.

Grant Overgaard - Overgaard Jewelers in Kitchener Ontario! I have bought two Rolex from him (Sea Dweller and GMT2C) and he's the best. Very competitive. Unfortunately he will not deal over the phone, you'd have to go see him - very old school which I like.

I believe he offers the best service and prices in Canada. BTW, I do not have any affiliation with this AD lol

Good luck!

Unfortunately Grant has given up his Rolex concession.

They wanted him to build a boutique at a cost of $500K before any watches were actually bought to stock the boutique. Grant decided to pass, and let go of Rolex.

Not sure if he has any stock left, but the last two times I was in the store, he didn't have any Rolex on display.

I bought my 116200 in April this year, and Grant told me he and Rolex came to an agreement on a parting of the ways in January of this year.

The good news is, it might clear the way for him to start carrying Omega again. He and Murray Dunnette walked away from them in the early 1990's, when they weren't happy with how Omega was not promoting the watches as widely as Rolex was.

When I asked Grant about carrying Omega again, he said it was a "distinct possibility".

And FWIW, Watchfinder seems to have some phenomenal prices on used SS models. Seems like they like to turn over their inventory fairly quick so they're willing to cut a deal. Too bad they don't have any LV's.

Grant has just given up his Rolex franchise. The few he has left are going for 30% off. Not much of a choice though.

You could also try canwatchco.com. The fella who owns it, Bobby, is a good guy. I've both bought and traded with him several times over the past year with no problems. He often has both new and used watches, and if they're used he checks them out carefully before posting them up. He ships insured overnight anywhere in Canada. I've had a few chats with him over the phone too and he's a true watch nut.

His website is also a good place to sell and trade your own watches too.

Cheers!
