1675 gilt dial with big arrow GMT???
Dear all,
Have a 1675 questions. Bump into a GMT 1675 gilt dial (bit tropical) with a BIG arrow GMT. Seems all gilt dial samples online are in small arrow GMT? So just wondering if this piece is correct. (Saw some online said its a transitional model, no idea its true or not) Besides the GMT arrow, anything spotted that potential decrease the value of this piece? Sincerely PT |

The watch should have a small 24-hour hand.

I believe some Mk0 matte dials had the small GMT hand during the transition from gilt to matte dials, so would not seem to make sense for a large GMT hand to be on a gilt.

Also, some early Mark I dial watches had the small 24-hour hand - from my experience, these watches had 1967 case backs, maybe early 1968, and the dial and hands currently glow green under the UV light.

Since you asked, besides the large GMT hand, the dial is a problem here.
The lume is washed off and there is significant damage. Despite the tropical hue, which is desirable, the damage and lume wash is a killer here. Remember most of the value any vintage piece is in the dial. Later bracelet too. |
