The Moon Walkers show off their Speedies

I met Capt. Gene Cernan of Apollo 17 (second from left) a few years back in Houston. He speaks passionately about man returning to the moon. Very nice guy. Here is a close up of Buzz Aldrin's Speedie.

Great shot

Our company hired Jim Lovell as a guest speaker a few years back and its fascinating to hear him tell the stories of what these guys went through on Apollo 13

The second man to walk on the moon, Buzz Aldrin, during his book signing at the Richard Nixon Library a few years ago. I bought his book, and had it signed.

Who are the other two, they look like Charles Duke and Harrison Schmitt?

Yes, I think so but Omega screwed up the caption. They have five astronauts named for a picture of four?

"The astronauts Harrison Schmitt, Thomas Stafford, Eugene Cernan, Charles Duke and Buzz Aldrin, from left, pose after a press conference at the Omega booth at the world watch and jewellery show 'Baselworld' in Basel, Switzerland, Saturday, March 28, 2009."

If buying a vintage Speedmaster I would suggest a pre 1969 watch with the 321 movement. This watch has been appreciating and will continue to do so.

A 321 can with some certainty be identified without opening the case by the applied white gold Omega emblem on the soar as opposed to the printed emblem. There is an exception that most do not understand. In mid 1969 during the change to from the 321 to the next gen movement, Omega had an imbalance of dial parts and movements so they produced a watch for just 6 months with the 321 dial on the new 861 movement, these are very rare and most guys think they are a doctored watch when in reality they are rare.

DO NOT buy the automatics or the 1/2 dial speedmasters for investment as they use ETA movements the same as many other brands and are really not unique.

Was Buzz Aldrins Speedmaster not stolen shortly after the Apollo 11 mission, whilst in transit to the Smithsonian?

The one he wore on the moon was stolen. Looks like he saved up for a new one! Was the moon phase version even available in the 60's?

Charlie Duke is my neighbor and day-in/day-out, he wears an X-33 like most of the current astronauts. When he speaks about the Apollo program, he always wears the Speedy Pro.

Didn't his Speedy fail on EVA3? I thought the crystal popped off. Be great if you could ask him about it.

I had the moon phase model on a strap. Sold it in hard times and still miss it greatly.

Did Omega ever produce a 321 with a printed emblem dial?
I have one and the previous owner insists that is how he bought it (he was the second owner, but had it since the 70's)
Thanks.
