Has anyone cut their own hair yet?

LOL. It’s going on 4 weeks now and I’m finding myself watching YouTube videos on how to cut my own hair. So far I’m fighting the urge as I’m pretty sure it’s easy to mess up. May be time for a man bun! Anyone brave enough to try it yet? Before and after pics welcome.

I used the new clippers for the first time yesterday. Staying at home seems like a pretty good idea today, fyi . . . .

Been cutting my own hair for years. I always hated going to the barber as a kid. I could never get them to do it the way I wanted yet when they finished and did the whole mirror thing and asked “how do you like it?” I’d always say “yeah, great” through a s*** eating grin. I even tipped them

Sod that. Clippers and a buzz cut all the way.

I wouldn’t attack my own hair with scissors and attempt anything fashionable, mind.

I planned ahead 34 years ago and married my hairdresser. Her extremely loyal clients are not happy about the shutdown.

I get a beating every time I visit my hairdresser because I do a bit of "maintenance" once in a while. ( I was once married to a hairdresser so I can operate a pair of scissors)

If I ever get back in to see her again, I'm sure she's gonna put me in the hospital.

I cut mine short with scissors. First time doing it myself. My friends/family say it turned out very well, but that might be charitable on their part.

My time is coming. I just ordered clippers yesterday and will probably test them out on arrival next weekend. I don’t have high expectations.

Man, had the chance to go to a barber shop around 3-4 weeks ago before things got really out of hand, but being in NYC I was hesitant as they come in contact with hundreds of people.

Don't know if to ride it out or to take it into my own hands...

If this goes on long enough, I might let my girlfriend try to cut my hair. She's offered to do it in the past but chickens out at the last minute.

You can't mess up a buzz cut I traveled >250K miles per year for work with many trips of 3 or 4 weeks abroad. I've gotten haircuts all over the world but it was always a hassle finding the time and place to get a haircut. I decided to give the clippers and buzz cut a try and have never looked back. Now I actually use an electric razor a few minutes each morning and I'm ready to go.

I've been buzzing my alleged hair for many years. I'm so ugly that my hair style makes no difference. I have male pattern baldness without the pattern, if you catch my drift.

Necessity is the mother of invention!

I learned a new skill set yesterday. I ordered this from Wahl Professional:

https://wahlpro.com/store/sterling/r...ior-08501.html

Got 20% off and glad I did...they’re out of stock now.

I watched some videos online then practiced on my 5th and 7th grade boys - came out pretty good. Then I did my own (wife helped with the trimming neckline and top. All things considered, I’ll continue doing my own.

Been doing mine for years as well. With the clippers, I can maintain about 1.5 “ length on top tapered down to 3/4” on sides. My wife does the neckline trim as there is no way I can do a good line by myself there.

As my haircut prices ranged from $25 for a strip mall butcher to $45 for a decent job, I decided to try it myself and quickly found that my work was as good as the top professional.

Now I put $40 in my vacation spending money jar with every cut.

You are set buddy

I need a haircut bad. I’m over a few weeks overdue. My hair is fairly thick and wavy

Thankfully, I think it's almost hard to get that look to look like that.

You can expect a lot more like this instead:

My neighbour used clippers on his hair last week
Said his wife set it at a no 3. You could tell before he even opened his mouth it was a home cut from a non professional

I had longish hair until 4 years ago when got made redundo & got a short back/ sides for interviews. Might see how long I can leave it. If can get over that ‘needing a haircut’ look might see how it goes

My routine is 4 weeks.

I'm just over now.

I can safely do 8 weeks, beyond that I may have to try the clippers....

Back in the 1950s that was called the bowl on your head, haircut.

Basically put a bowl in the persons head and cut around it.

I have permanent emotional scars from that.

Almost cut my hair, happened just the other day. It’s getting kind of long. I could have said it was in my way.
But I didn’t and I wonder why. I feel like letting my freak flag fly!

I happily pay a barber for the experience of cutting my hair.

Then again, I say that, but just a few years ago I took to using a straight razor to do my own shaves...and I'll never go back to a barber for that.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
