Camera (APS-c) update...

Ahhhh....I've done it. Sold my beloved Canon 200D after a friend who wants to get into photography gave me a price I could not refuse. True it was still MINT. So we both did well and are happy .

My original post here - https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=706854

Lately I have been looking at a more 'involving' camera. The 200D is superb, but very beginner like. You have to toggle everything off the touchscreen.

I have been eyeing the Fuji XT-3 as I absolutely adore the manual control rings (especially the aperture ring on some of their great quality lenses) with all controls that fall to hand . I also like the minimalism of the Sony A6400, especially for street.

I love doing Landscape (early morning/late night) and Street Photography most.

For my level, I am more than happy with APS-c so am not looking at full frame. I do not need the bulky lenses for my use. To be honest I considered the OM-D EM-5 M4/3, but their system is still very expensive, especially their lenses.

The only shame is that I still have 2 Canon EF-S standard lenses still as new, not expensive but very good quality nonetheless. Apart from having slow apertures, they are very sharp and clean .

Namely, I have:

Canon IS STM 10 - 18mm f/4.5-5.6 Lens
Canon IS STM 55 - 250mm f/4-5.6 Lens

It's a shame having to start all over again, but the only APS-C Canon I like (function wise) are the 80D or 90D, my only issue is that they have quite large bodies compared to the XT-3 or A6400.

If I were to go for the Fuji or Sony, I do not think that buying a converter is worth it. Should I just sell these 2 lenses ?

Or should I think well about the 80D / 90D option? In their favor is that Canon have many great lenses and it is relatively easy to find used glass at good prices.

Sony are also catching up, with Sigma covering them too now. Fuji have a great selection of Fujinon primes, albeit expensive.

I'd love to have a robust Weather sealed body and a good quality standard zoom lens (say 17/18-50/55) with decent speed (f/4 or 2.8).

I'd love to hear your experiences and advice. Thanks!

I gave up my full frame canon set up and moved to a Fuji Xt-2 and never looked back. I just found having a smaller set up just gave me more opportunities to shoot. I also really enjoy all the manual controls and the retro vibe of the Fuji systems. It reminds me of the days of a film camera. The Fuji lenses while not as good as canon L glass is WAY more than sufficient for my level of shooting. I believe for the $, they are some of the best value in glass. You might want to check out the new xt-4. Looks like a winner so far.

I’ve heard good things about Sony. If you plan to shoot primarily video and super low light, they are the camera to get. However, I’ve heard the lenses are ridiculously expensive. I think that’s how Sony gets you — cheap body, pricey lenses.

Either way you can’t lose but it’s obvious where my preferences lie. Good luck!

The rumour is true! I have a Sony A6300 and the body is the very cheap part.

Lenses are CRAZY expensive.

It does take wonderful shots however. I use it mainly for landscape photography.

As long as you love it, it’s all good!

While I’ve never used one for an extended period, I think you are the ideal candidate for a Fuji system. Stick with the native lenses and sell your Canon lenses.

I've found that the Fuji lenses are very nice, solid quality .

Yes, I'd like to keep with Native lenses, mostly for the AF speed.

Fuji have some really nice prime lenses (pricey) and I would add a couple, but first I would like to cover the telephoto & wide zoom end?

Can I find 'lower end' 10-18/20mm & 55/80-200/250 for it at decent prices? F5.6 is enough for me with these .
