Has Rolex ever produced a "big date" complication?

I know Rolex is famous for using the cyclops to magnify the date window. Curious to know if they have ever experimented in the past with producing a "big date" window? I know this can be done using multiple date discs. There are some interesting systems out there such as this one that puts one half the dates on the top disc and the other half on a disc underneath.

The most common method I have seen is the double date window with two independent discs next to each other.

Has Rolex ever produced one of these? Any other interesting methods other companies have used to produce a larger date display? I would love to see some pics. Thanks

I have never seen one. Personally I'm a sucker for a grande date or big date. Always daydreamed about a larger 43-44mm Rolex Chronograph with a big date at 12 o'clock, no tachometer, small bezel, all dial for a clear display, non-screw down pushers like the YMII. Since it's not going to happen, add a display case back and finely finished movement to the list.

I don't believe they've ever brought one to market, but a few years ago (maybe 5 or 6) they applied for a patent on a large date. I recall seeing the patent application posted here.

I assumed it was real. Rolex applies for patents all the time, but take their sweet time in using in production pieces.

Never seen with Rolex itself but, they’re clearly capable of it.

Tudor Glamour Double Date
I think the Double Date is a whiff/miss from Rolex/Tudor. It creates a unique date position without significantly increasing the size of the date numbers. I don't see the advantage.

I would really like to see Rolex or Tudor make a big date watch. I think it's an oversight by them and a blank space in their catalog.

Here's one way to do it:

That Moser big date in the Op is easily my favorite implementation of a larger date. No line between two smaller wheels (or piece of dial covering it), no crystal wart to magnify -- just a nice, large, legible date in the correct place on the dial.

I assume Moser has a patent or something. Otherwise, everyone should be doing this.

Big date is my favorite complication on a watch, and basically the only one above a second hand that I find actually useful. I have one on my Journe Octa Sport, and I find myself drawn to it. I like that Rolex at least has a magnifier over the date although this seems like an inexpensive/dated solution to a small date.
