Patek Philippe Ref. 3940 Perpetual Calendar Information Guide
Looking to learn more about the Patek Philippe 3940 Perpetual Calendar...
I've put together a guide covering the 3940 production, with a deep dive into the different series, the key characteristics/variants plus some unique editions worth knowing about. Thank you to everyone who contributed, information or photos, it couldn't have come together without you. Hugely appreciated! Hope you find it useful! all the best, Ben https://www.watchbrotherslondon.com/...etual-calendar |

Great stuff - thank you!
Let us know if you find out any info on non-sigma dials. As far as I understand Patek stopped using sigma dials on most refs between the late 1990s and 2000 whereas the 3940s seem to have come w sigma dials well into the mid-2000s. Any info on that subject would be appreciated. |

A favorite reference from Patek.
Well worth consideration by anyone who appreciates Patek and their history. I have a 5940, same complication and movement with a different case. Super thin and beautifully balanced, 3940 & 5940: truly a magnificent references. Thank you for putting this together. Ps, imho the 3940 is probably one of the best values that can be found in Patek.

3940 is so pretty - actually it was reading about the 3940 that I wanted to buy the 5140 (discontinued but still available new at AD).
Obviously if the 3940 was still available now (new at AD) then I'd go and buy one right away! |

I’ve seen some 3940s that have the complication “actuators” protruding ever so slightly from the case. Others are perfectly flush with the case.
Does anyone know with certainty if this how these 3940s were sent from the factory, or is this protruding due to polishing of the case? Thanks.

Realize this thread's been stale for over a year, but I can't help but "bump" it, both to thank the OP and to highlight this write-up for others interested in the 3940.

Great stuff, i think i can contribute: i was at the PP diner for the 175th anniversary in London and did put my name down for the salmon dial 3940g (which i did not get). They made 15 if i remember correctly. In fact they made 15 of most of the itterations offered for sale that evening.

oh and one more thing, there are a couple of blue face versions knocking about as well. A good friend of mine just sold hers brand new sealed that she had been keeping for years. I posted on the subject a while back.
