Has anyone thought of this when deciding on a 36mm DD vs 40mmDD
When people say that a 36mm is too small, are they talking about the total watch on the wrist? What is the diameter of the watch face on the 36mm and the 40mm.
My point is with some of my watches, the face can be small but the watch looks large and vice versa. Examples that I have that I can actually measure: Cellini Moonphase has a case of 39mm and a face of 34mm GMT CHNR has a case of 40mm and a face of 30.5mm Sub has a case of 40mm and a face of 30.5mm AirKing has a case of 40mm and a face of 33mm. Time to get back to work. Stay safe! |

OP has hit the nail on the head. Whether you eye focuses on the dial and blanks out the chrome or whether you look at the watch as a whole makes all the difference between big and small. No right answer I guess.
I have a WG DD40 and plan to add a YG DD Champagne at some point. Whether I get the DD36 or DD40 feels like the biggest decision of my life. I’m really torn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You buy what YOU like and not what anyone ELSE likes or TELLS you to buy.
It is your personal choice. Period.

I love the 36, on the wrist it’s a perfect fit for the average person.
36DD are classic and a great value on the secondary market right now. I’m willing to bet there will be even more deals to be had on PM in the coming months/year |

I have a SS 36mm white dial DJ, and a SS Submariner Date. My DJ is my casual/dress watch. The Sub is my sport/casual watch. I love them both, I actually wear my DJ more than my Sub. Both 36mm, and 40mm are the perfect size for me. And I have a 7 1/2 inch wrist.

Certain dial/bezel combinations "wear" bigger for sure (Ie fluted wears bigger than the smooth bezel). I have owned both and find the DD40 more pleasing to my eye personally.

I have small wrists and struggled with this for a while. I think the DD40 has the best proportions. The DD36 is great in it's own right but I just find it to be too small. It's not just the dial, but the whole package from the lugs to the bezel to the integration with the bracelet. The DD40 just flat out looks better IMO
