Need recommendation for first Patek 5712??

As title says, I am newbie to Patek whereas I am familiar with Rolex world. I am a proud owner of Rolex sub=> pepsi/batman=> daytona (panda) and looking for one Patek to be in my collection price range ~$50K. I have heard lots of positive review of Nautilus 5712 and anything other models you guys recommend?

Also are there long waits for Patek (i.e. same for Rolex)?

Many thanks for your inputs.

Dave

Nautilus have longer wait times than most Rolex.
If you bought all your Rolex at the same AD and they also carry Patek, it should definitely help. But if not, you're better of buying from a trusted grey. The premium will be less than all the other pieces the AD will want you to buy to get on that list for...2027.

I dont think its an unrealistic ambition. The 5712 is a lovely watch but it has been had been over inflated over the last two years because of the crazy market we were in.

I ordered a 5712 two years ago and got it within 8 months from an AD that I had zero history with. The price of this watch in the grey market only started rising from about the end of 2017 and the real bounce upwards happened in early 2019. Prior to this, ADs were doing well to achieve full retail on this watch.

If you wait a few months (maximum till around the end of this calendar year) you may well have an easier time than I did two years ago.

Thank you all for your input. Wish I can see it in person but will reach out to AD when SIP gets lifted here in California.

Start the process with a Patek AD. You never know, you may obtain one quickly, if the AD wants you to have the watch. Its also hard to know the present market after the shutdowns and resulting economy. Availability may increase or it may not. It is really hard to say.

man good luck. it's a watch i'm also gearing up towards. i feel pretty pessimistic about having any luck with an AD in my area, but i guess i should probably go and try to even get on a waiting list.
no way i'm paying grey price

IMHO the 5712 is hands down the nicest watch one can buy for a budget going up to ~85/90K (which is much higher than its list and market prices). I just love mine dearly.

I’m around 7.5 to 7.8 and wondering if it might fit me too small. Trying is out of the question for this watch so I’m just left wondering.
Thank you for your help. Congrats again on your watch!

Stay patient, they just broke into the 50s and like all nautilus recently, they are trading down in price (imo will continue to do so).

If you are thinking seriously of a 5712 then of course you need to consider a 5711. Both are great pieces at list price. Who knows where the market will be after the lockdown is over so I would try the AD route and buying at MSRP and be patient - the flippers will be dropping out of the queue.

Me thinks you guys are dreaming about lines being shorter & huge price reductions. People will always be around who have funds available for fine pieces.Sure aftermarket grey prices have dropped a little bit temporarily but not significantly. Now as the supply has slowed w pp shutdown the prices & demand will return strong . JMO.

I agree with this, I think the difference between this and 08 recession is that back then the whole financial system was linked in a domino like crisis where a lot of industries were not financially stable.

Now, these companies and individuals were mostly strong and had plenty of cash before hand, this is a blip as people will go back to work.

Any reduction in waiting or price will only be had at the Greys and it will be minimal and short lived at that.
