Rolex Run Ins

So I'm working at the airport in Cleveland and spot a pilot wearing a Sub date leaning on some of our equipment. As I approached he asked if he was in my way and I said not at all and that's a great looking Sub you have. He said he bought it 25 years ago and it's seen it all.
Then the next day I see a passenger wearing a TT GMT on jubilee. Couldn't let that go by without comment. I said that's a great looking GMT you have. We both agreed the GMT is THE watch for travelers.
Both gentlemen thanked me for my comments and where genuinely eager to talk about their pride and joys.

That's great Dan! I love it when others are just as eager to talk about their watches! Of course there are always others who give you that 'funny look' and aren't interested....LOL!

Very true, Karis. It's either that, "what the hell are you talking about" stare, or, if your lucky, you find another proud owner.

You are so right! Since I've got my new Sub for a couple of weeks now. I'm more inclined at checking out people's wrist and checking if they have a rolex. Is that some kind of rolex thing that happens when owning a rolex or is it just me? And I don't mind calling someone out telling they have a nice wrist piece.

Met a guy in a bar about two weeks ago, and he had on a TT Black Sub with lug holes. I was wearing my Explorer-II, and the GF was wearing my Sub on a NATO. We had a 30 minute conversation about watches, and my other buddy got some good business contacts (this gentleman buys and sells small companies).

Who says Rolex isn't an investment?

And I owe this plight and blame on this Forum!!!

Great story, Dan, but you didn't say what you were wearing (on your wrist).

I had two guys here at work, a producer with a ss/plat yacht master, and a camera man with a bluesy sub. I commented on their watches in private, and both of them looked at me like I had three heads.
