Deepsea Dblue for Overseas Chronograph?

Hi,
I am flirting with the idea to go from my DBlue 116660 (July 2015, still 2+ months in warranty) to a VC Overseas Silver Dial Chronograph 5500v/110a-b075 "as new" condition from December 2019.
What is the fair amount to pay for?
It has to be a very good deal to make it.
I own also a Sub 16613 serti dial and an IWC Portugieser Chronograph 3714

My thoughts:

Pro
VC more exclusive
Inhouse movement with nice sapphire back
Very flexible with extra leather and rubber straps
Better balance sport/business for daily use

Con
Dblue highest engineering and amazing dial
Remaining value longterm much higher for Rolex
116660 as the "original" JC may be collectable in future

I personally would not do it, your not going to best return for it since you mentioned it has to be a good deal and right now is not the best time to sell a watch to a dealer in my opinion and get great deals. What I would do instead is see what the delta is between the VC Chrono offer with the trade in value of your 116660 and see if you can add a little to that and negotiate a non chrono 4500V to ADD to your collection. Overseas have been priced higher on secondary than what they should be but Silver dial should be easier to negotiate. I am almost sure you would miss the DSSD

-You have two nice watches including the awesome JC DSSD
-Non Chrono wears thinner and is more comfortable on the wrist - I have tried both, difference was felt
-You don't take a beating on the Overseas since they seemed to be overpriced lately for no real valid reason (VS actually lowered the price in 2019) - there is a lot of supply with high prices I'm not feeling the demand though...
-As nice as the Overseas is (I love it) it will not keep its value since that seems important to you
-Everything else you said in your Pros

Don't do it. Think of the replacement value once you start to miss your DSSD. VC Overseas will be more accessible as time goes on. I too struggle with impulses to get higher horology pieces with smaller markets and softer resale than Rolex :) If you are not wearing the DSSD due to size or weight, consider trading for another Rolex.

Χάρη, you are spot on. Long-term value means Rolex. Having said that the VC overseas chrono is an amazing watch in the flesh (whichever geenration).

VC 3rd gen chrono all day. The JC you have is the old one with thin bracelet so not as desirable as current one.

You have very good taste because those are the two watches I’m considering buying in the future (although I would buy the 126660, and I would get the Blue dial VC).

I would expect to pay $21-23K for the Overseas on the secondary market. The 116660s seem to go for $11-12K depending on condition. So a decent deal would require you to pitch in at least $10K of cash, I think..

The VC’s silver dial is a bit bland for my tastes. I also find that watches with a slanted date window at 4 o clock disrupts the aesthetics of the dial. I would keep the DSSD, the deep blue dial is very pleasing to the eyes.

If I had three or four Rolex sports models I’d be inclined to get the VC in exchange for one of them. I feel like I’d like to have at least a couple of Rolex to be in the rotation with a VC.

I've seriously considered the 3rd gen VC Chrono but the thickness and 4 o'clock date kills it for me. YMMV. The silver dial you are thinking about sort of nullifies the date-concern because it isn't as noticeable as on the other models.

A good price for the VC chrono would be around $20K, I don't know how much you can get for the DSSD, it depends on the condition, location if it is a straight trade, etc.

I guess the DSSD JC is a bit more "interesting", but then again, you have a serti TT for that.

I'd flip the IWC and the DSSD and go for the VC :-)
