Daytona - Why the "Hunter" style in new Vs. Zenith?

I've seen a lot of threads on here lately talking about the Zenith vs the new in-house Rolex movement Daytona. Some prefer the older model for various reasons, and to each his own, but one thing I do like in the Zenith better then mine is the placement of the sweep second hand. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but with the sweep-second hand at the 6:00, I believe that is called the "Hunter" style. The Zenith model had it at the 9:00 position. I liked this arrangment much better. Maybe it was the asyemetrical set up, (I'm a little tilted myself), or... who knows, but I was a little dissapointed they moved it to the 6:00. An AD told me the reason they did that was to conform to some of the other high-end manufacturers, specifically Patek. I've never known Rolex to conform to anything, but does anyone know if this is true? Is there some mechanical advantage to having it at the 6:00? Do you guys here on TRF just like it better at the 6:00? Opinions Welcome!

Interesting observation..

It's my understanding that Rolex went to the "Hunter" style of seconds to return to their own roots as the new movement would be strictly in-house.

Seconds at 6 o'clock is the standard, rather than the move of it to 9 o'clock to conform with ease of production of Chronographs..

Another reason, from earlier discussions when it was built, was an arrangement of the sub's to make it very difficult to counterfeit a modern Daytona..

I believe too, that they were correct....... I don't think that there is yet, a functional counterfeit with the exact sub-dial configuration of the 4130...

The Classic Daytona has the seconds at 9 ...Right?

i was under the impression the "manuel wind" daytona style older watchs had the 9 o clock location sub dial as the second hand. correct me if i am wrong. I would like a poll as to which movment is more desirible the zeinth or not, and why.

Thanks Rolex Guy, I did. It was interesting how close the two models were in the comparisons, I had a Zenith way back when, and it was a great watch. But overall I'd have to say I like my new one better, except for the sweep seconds hand... and for gosh sakes put a @#$@^%$# Date on the thing!
