Maybe I didn't look carefully enough, but I didn't see a date code. Can you see one? People seem to use these 382 end-links pretty commonly with various Rolex sport models, and they seem to fit pretty well. But if you care, I think they were originally for a Tudor watch. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. What watch do you want to pair this with?

Thanks for your reply, where would I find the date code? Does it need have to have one? Don’t find any other markings. I believe your right the end links being for a Tudor but I’m no expert. I would be pairing this with a Tudor day date 7020. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I can't swear that it's always the case, but the original clasps on 7836 bracelets typically have a date code. You can use google images to search for many examples, but here was the first hit I found, which is an old sales listing from the forum, where the date code is 3 71 (March 1971).

Hmmm i see what you mean. I definitely don’t see one. Hoping its not fake or atleast not all of it as I was going to replace the clasp with a Tudor one at some point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It appears not all have codes, see link below, but I don’t want to convince myself into thinking anything. Any further thoughts?

A missing date code means just that. I have seen it before on vintage bracelets.
There could be several reasons a date code could be missing - to include a clasp blade replacement, a clasp replacement, or it simply wasn't date stamped when it was manufactured. The bracelet/clasp combination appears genuine based on my experience.

Great, such a relief. Thank you! Didn’t pay too much considering I’m seeing only the endlinks go on eBay for $200-300 and more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Was serviced last year. Not sure what the term is called but it’s one of those mechanisms that the day gradually starts moving at around 11PMish and slightly before 12 it switches over. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Folks I had posted in the vintagerolexforum as well. And consensus there is that it’s not authentic.

Get rid of it if you are in doubt. As ROH mentioned, there have been several of these bracelets popping up as counterfeit the past several years. As far as it not having a date stamp though, that does not make a bracelet counterfeit.

Vintage is getting difficult when even experts aren't sure whether something is genuine or not. Some of the fakes made these days are scarily faithful to the originals.

If both Springer and Philip Ridley are happy with it, that's good enough for me.

I've also talked with two other very reputable vintage collectors, one which is a forum moderator, who feel the bracelet is genuine based on the photos. No matter what one assumes or believes, the buyer has to be comfortable with the bracelet. If he's in doubt - get rid of it or don't buy it.

Thanks all!! I truly appreciate the feedback and time taken for your thoughts. Getting advise from folks with years of experience is valuable and hard to come by so thank you again!!
Fortunately this wasn’t too bad in terms of price (wasn’t throw away cheap though) so I’m going to be keeping it. Also the seller has been in touch and has provided proof he bought it from a reputed auction house, so based on the feedback here and that fact will roll with it and am considering it genuine. However as a suggestion to all novice watch buyers (mostly meant for me) post things on this forum or get them verified so that you can get that comfort level prior to buying vintage. I have this exact bracelet, but it's become a little tight due to, er, lockdown lifestyle choices.

Some may want to revise their position after reading my analysis on this subject (use the VRF-link mentioned in post #14).

You have helped a number of times on vrf, and your knowledge is incredible. In this instance I think your opinion on vrf is correct.
