Warranty cards will be registered with an iPhone with no personal info
Pretty much as the heading says. Updated by my ad today that no longer will you have some doctors scrawl name and date now.
The card will be registered by them using a preset iPhone with an RFID tag and no information will be able to be written on them, simply the serial number and model code. No idea if that’s news... 😄 |

Did you experience this or just hear about this? I just bought a watch last week and my name was printed on the card.

I’m due to pick a sub no date up and we were chatting about things generally and warranty cards came up in conversation.

No! Rolex are providing the IPhone to the AD to register all Rolex watches sold.

Or, if you don't have an iPhone, Rolex will provide one to you... Just kidding...

Maybe a first step to tokenising the ownership of a watch.
Even when I bought new from AD the name box on card was empty and I could fill myself if I wanted. Name on warranty card has literally no value at all for me but a registered ownership certificate would maybe help as anti theft. |

So Rolex is able to track if they sell to a grey?

I don't want to sidetrack this into a discussion about flipping but if your name is no longer on the card then that seems like it would be better for flippers, no? Because if you take the "I got my name on the card" element that some people care about then that's one less reason to try so hard to get it from an AD.
Just a thought... |

The seven people that don’t have an iPhone are screwed. If you don’t own a mobile phone, i am jealous of that persons life. I would love to be able to go without one. But, i would assume the AD will activate for users without iPhones somehow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think it will still apply. What the OP is stating is a process of activating the warranty with a Rolex App on a mobile device that communicates with Rolex servers. This could replace the existing activation process of swiping via a POS hardware cabled into a PC I don’t conflate the warranty service process with the activation process. Believe that for some years to come the owner must present a dated card at RSC or an AD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Picked up an SD43 two weeks ago. They scanned the card into an iPad to activate the warranty. But the card still has my name on it. Looks the same to me.

Add this to that thought... What if they will be taking your picture as part of the process? And entering your name in the App as validation. We just added that requirement to motorsports waivers if you want contactless entry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Units with old warranty cards will probably fetch a premium now........

I wouldn’t share any shortcomings just for a Daytona!

The point is that the AD activates the new cards over a secure system when sold to a customer. The buyer can't, nor can somebody else who buys imports in bulk for sale (Grey Dealers).

For whatever it's worth, I believe DavidSW confirmed this new card in a previous post (which I forget). I think I remember seeing him post it on his IG as well.

I recently purchased a JLC. And same thing, just a plastic card with a QR code. No names on it as well. AD said it was also very recent. First JLC he sold with the new card.

Oh.. interesting. I screwed the correlation up. So, it sounds like (correct me if I’m wrong) if you were to buy a grey watch, it would no longer be covered under the factory warranty with this new system, unless you are the original buyer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
