eBay watch

Hi, I am looking at a Datejust 41 on eBay UK. Watch seems to be a good price, and seller, who has good feedback, says he purchased watch on business trip to Japan. He would prefer bank transfer, but will accept PayPal at buyers expense. My questions are, is the fact he bought the watch in Japan a negative, ie devalues the watch, guarantee etc. And I would have to have the band size adjusted, would I have to take it to an AD. Also how can I be sure watch is genuine, I live 6 hours away, so inspecting before I purchase not an option.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Buy a new watch from a trusted seller here, I would never buy a used watch on ebay from anyone other than a store.

So starting with the lowest priced first I think I found your watch.

It's only £50 under MSRP.

Is DJ41 availability that bad right now?

I'd go see an AD.

I would rather do that, but most of the sellers on here are in US. That makes it awkward to purchase, with import fees etc.

Looking at the buyers feedback, in the last couple of months, he has sold a Sea dweller and a Panerai.

It may be worth getting in touch via a phone call and see how you feel about the seller.

I have no connection with the seller and I’m a long way from them too.

Yes, not worth it for us in the UK

I saw that. If I pay with a PayPal I am covered to a certain extent. But it’s a lot of hassle if there’s a problem. Not sure what to do.

I’m seeing an AD soon, hopefully. Unfortunately I’ve no purchase history, so assumed that I would be struggling to get one.

You will be fine without a purchase history for a DJ41.

I would avoid Ebay like a plague for Rolex watches, just my opinion.
