Value of a 647xxx Serial 16808 Sub
Hi guys, I'm fairly new here, but wanted to ask, as I'm sure you can help! I have a chance to buy the 16808 18k gold Sub for 15K. Not my kind of watch, but I wonder if this is a good buy, would it be worth buying, and is there a demand for this watch? I know next to nothing about gold watches!
Thanks for any help! Makai |

We are not appraisers here. There’s multiple sources on the internet that will give you a price range for the model you’re interested in purchasing.

Well, 15K for a 16808 is a good price even without box/papers. It always depends on the condition, though, and without pics, not much to say for sure.

I asked about that too! It's 100% authentic, so I'm guessing so. The owner was a big polish and service guy, I know from the records! Is that a big factor in valuation? As I said, this would be a pure flip watch, and its pretty flawless. From everything I've seen these are going from 20-35 and higher!

I have no idea whether the price is particularly good, apparently you are going to flip it. Is that bracelet stretch excessive? I don't know but it looks like more stretch than any of my SS watches.
What makes you think someone will pay you more than $15k for this watch in the near term? There must be a reason the owner is looking for only $15k.

If it seems too good to be true, it is. Trying to flip Rolex as a noob is a bad idea. I know from experience

The bracelet is not authentic.
Pictures are too bad to say much about the watch, except it is not period correct.

Likely won't bring much more than 15K due to heavy polish, service dial and likely hands.
This is only my opinion but others would mostly agree. |

If all of these questions are coming up when you buy it then expect the same questions from a buyer when you try to flip it. There is a reason its only $15K and I doubt you will get much more when flipping it due to the imperfections and service parts noted above.

If this works out, you’d be the first guy in 20 years to get “great deal” on a Rolex. Good luck!

There is no way 16618's in that condition/age are going for anywhere near 25-30k. For a late model, no hole case, engraved rehaut sure. I was looking for one myself recently and came across a few in that kind of condition for 16-17k, that I wouldn't touch (you can't get that polished away metal back). That was the asking price, probably went for less and sellers fees mean you would probably make a loss. Plus the hassle / risk of a private sale. |

OP, This dude is right on. “Knowing next to nothing” isn’t a great basis upon which to flip watches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
