Back from Omega Service
After my father passed away my mother gave me both his Rolex Sub, and his Omega Seamaster. The Seamaster was a gift to him from my mother and he had the case back engraved with our birthday's and the date my mother gave him the watch 12-25-68.
It had never been serviced, so I very reluctantly parted with it and sent it to Omega in February. They said due to the age it had to go to Switzerland for service. Then COVID struck and of course everything was delayed, so just came in the mail today. I think it looks great and I'm just so happy to have it back safe and in good working order. My dad would have really gotten a kick out of the process and it made me miss him today... |

52 years without service
Just a quick point if you are considering service, this watch went 52 years without a service. To be fair, after my father had his Rolex Sub, it sat in a drawer and was rarely used, but when my mother gave it to me, it ran fine, and kept time. My son is 17, so when I die the watch will be passed to him, but if he waited the 52 years, that would make him 69!

Did they service it?
I dropped off my father's 591 Seamaster (1961) for service at the NYC boutique. They sent it to Switzerland and in 8 weeks was returned to me with no service done because they couldn't guarantee the work would get the watch back to original specifications. That tells me they didn't have the parts. I was a bit disappointed to say the least. |

Awesome story. Thanks for sharing. I had gifted my dad an Omega Seamaster and he wore it everyday for 14 years. When he passed away, I got the watch back and had it serviced and it now means more to me than it did before.
