Daytona c vs skydweller blue

Between the 2 watches both about same price msrp and by grey

Which is considered more prestigious and hold its value in the long run?

I would go by which one do you like more. Both are great watches. If it matters, the Daytona has a long history with many vintage pieces sell for very high premiums. The SkyDweller doesn't have the history that the Daytona has.

The one you'd wear daily and enjoy is the go-to piece. If you travel a lot, then SkyD may be the preference. If you tend to time things (racing / etc) then the Daytona is a good choice.

I don't know about value, but the Sky-Dweller is a much nicer watch IMHO

Buy the watch YOU like, watches are NOT an investment but expensive toys.

If you buy the watch via the grey market you will probably pay 50-100% over listprice and I'm not sure if those prices will hold up in the future.

If you’re actually going to wear the watch, try them on.

They wear very differently from each other.

The steel dial on the Daytona is one of my favorites in the whole line up.

That could be a one and only watch collection in my opinion. Congrats on a great duo.

I think to answer your question, it is the daytona c. I think the white dial gets more aftermarket. The skydweller with the blue dial is very popular as Rolex has made the blue dials very special. Plus the white gold fluted bezel is PM which could help hold its value. But as mentioned, the Daytona is more iconic, more people know about it, which will always help retain the value. I would feel confident that both will hold value well, so go with what you like better.

I like both watch and wore a YG Daytona for a decade as one of a two watch collection. I currently own three Sky-Dwellers, YG with the white dial, SS blue dial and SS with the white dial. I have a 7.5-7.75 inch wrist depending on the weather and find the Sky-Dweller to be a better fit for me. Value retention has to do with where you buy in but both are solid at msrp. Go try them on and see. Really not a bad choice, only a choice.

Date is too important for me on a watch.

Also? I’ve had a chronograph for years and never really enjoyed the business of it.

I own a black Daytona and a black Sky Dweller. I have a 7.5-7.75" wrist for context. The Sky is one of my absolute favorite watches. It's a beautiful complicated watch. It's not small but fits me well. The Daytona is sharp looking and very comfortable but nowhere near as useful to me. Do you like GMTs and complicated watches? Get a Sky. Do you like racing, chronographs and slimmer watches? Get the Daytona. Investment potential is meaningless because nobody knows how that'll all shake out.

I've just returned from the year 2009 where the answer to your question was Panerai PAM312.

I also took a peak at year 2000 and the answer to your questions are Franck Muller and the Platinum Bezel Rolex Yachtmaster.

Believe it or not, I got into wearing chronographs in the early 80s using them to time TV and Radio commercials I produced for advertising clients. Obviously we had digital counters but I liked having my own clock to follow along with the producer/editor so I could figure each of my segments. And yes, I even used my Daytona for many years...

Why do people buy watches based on these criteria, why not buy the watch you like and what suits your style?

Yeah I don't get this line of thinking either.

I always wonder what people might actually pick for themselves if every model was readily available at list.

SkyD and Daytona are completely different watches, it's not like the style is the same. The only similarities they have is their limited availability and made by Rolex. GMT vs Sub is a understandable dilemma, don't get this one.

I wonder if the TTDJ's were really hard to get if everyone would want one of them too. Absence makes the heart grow fonder as they say.
