Any White Gold Rolex Fans here?

My local AD has the 40k Smurf Available - anyone here who has it? What are your thoughts? I tried it on and liked it but it is not as flashy as a YMII 44mm Gold or Two Tone.

I agree - like the other 2 better. This probably sounds so bad, but to the average person no one has any idea if it is PM. You know it, appreciate it, feels heavier more solid, worth more, but if I spend that type of money want it to stand out more. I like the gold Daytona with green face or GMT better. I even like the bluesy sub better, much better. How about the all yellow gold sub blue or black dial?

Love the Smurf, but would go pre-owned.

Obviously I can only speak for myself. It is my first and only PM watch and I love it. Rolex does blue perfectly and I don't feel like a douche wearing a gold piece.

Smurf is the only WG sports watch I can think of that Rolex hasn't knocked off with a stainless version... I wear a WG BLRO, ask me how I know!

I don’t have gold, yet, other than the white gold fluted bezel on datejust, but I am considering. Especially the bluesy. But I never think poorly of someone wearing YG. If anything I think good for him/her.

Nice PM watch but the dial would be better with sunburst blue which would really pop against the WG. The blue dial used is very flat looking to me. Wonder why they did not change when the yellow gold blue dial was re-done over to a sunburst.

As do I sir, but with whats going on in the world, It's feels wrong sometimes (for me) to wear anything flashy. All the more power to those who can pull it off. I myself cannot, as far as yellow/rose gold goes. That's why I love my white gold sub. It checks all the boxes for me.

Also - if it was SS I’d say get it. Spending that much money, I would wait to see what Rolex is doing in Sept. As another poster suggested, they made a white gold BLRO and not make it in SS. Could very well happen with the sub.

Raise a good point with the current world economy. That made me think. Very good point. Might never be a better time to be understated.

It’s such a great watch!

Love the flat blue dial, the hue of the WG, the glide lock, the heft, etc! It’s a perfect PM Rolex.

Is it the fact you know that it's white gold that matters or does it look different on the wrist to SS?

Absolutely nothing against yellow or rose gold and it’s conceivable to add one at some point because they are stunning and add flash. My personal taste and style at the moment is white gold or platinum. The weight and feel is perfect without the flash factor. I much prefer to fly under the radar with everyone not on TRF. My DD40 is PT and Daytona WG. Enjoy these immensely and will prob add a WG GMT down the road.

I think the Smurf is a great reference. I tried one on a while back and was smitten with it. Personally, I like understated, and I also like the color silver over the color gold, so I would take white gold or stainless over yellow gold any day (although the rose gold looks very nice). For me, knowing it was WG is plenty, I really don't care if anyone else is aware.

Big fan of white gold. The blue doesn’t work for me, and neither does the concept of a PM sub. But, it’s a beautiful watch.

I love white gold from rolex. It’s slightly gray, very sharp.

I've always love the Smurf, one of my favorite PM Rolex! I do agree with some of the other posts to go second hand as you can get one less than MSRP.

I prefer WG or PT myself. Yellow calls too much attention. Platinum or WG are under the radar. Most will think it's SS and really most don't care, unless they're into watches... Nice pics..
