Breitling Flagbearer?
Okay, here’s a scenario for you to weigh in on. Breitling is certainly a renowned brand with history and storied models. Despite this, other brands seem to get more attention (ie. Rolex, Omega, and even Seiko). Nothing wrong with this.
Assuming a collection already has nice variety and representation from the “usual suspects” and the enthusiast is interested in adding a representative from Breitling, what would that Breitling be? In other words, if you were to recommend one (and only one) Breitling model to represent the brand in your collection, which one and why? Looking forward to learning. |

Navitimer. The iconic, classic Breitling. Would be a great time to get your hands on the 1959 Navitimer Reissue - get yourself a brand new iteration of the OG.
EDIT: Picture of mine to help with enabling.

Thanks guys for your responses so far. Definitely aware of the Navitimer...and the 1959 Reissue is a great example. There are so many Breitlings with the designation Navitimer over the years. Are there approximate groupings by characteristics, like dial size? Chronograph vs non-chronograph? Ones to stay away from?

Exactly my dilemma, with six Rolex under my belt, 2 Tags, 2 Omegas, a Nomos, a Tudor, a Tissot, so what Breitling to get? I settled on the 42 mm SuperOcean Heritage II in Blue on a metal bracelet. Just tugged at me.

Navi. Cosmonaute. By far my favorite in the collection. Yes, even over the Rolex.
