For Rolex Reference Library: Rolex 1675 GMT Master-The illusive All RED 24hr GMT Hand
Err...they do exist from the time that Rolex
stopped producing the Small 24hr GMT Hand for early 1675 GMT SquareGuards with Gilt Dial.. It is believed to have been a standard feature of 1675 GMT watches... from 1966 or so...until 1972 or so at certain Rolex markets at the time... possibly on 1675 GMT Master with MK.1 n MK.2 Dial variants...as well. It is also possible that the 1675 GMT Master with MK.3 "Radial Mini" Dial could have had this feature of the 24hr All Red GMT hand... This particular set of 1675 GMT hands(with 24hr All Red) was recently purchased from... 1 of the VRF's 1st Class collector/resellers... These 24hr All Red GMT hands...are in the other SEA's 1st Class Rolex... GMT collector's possession who is a VRF member there as well... This specific one is taken from Buddy Dana's enquiry in the VRF... along with what is seen to be a beautiful MK.4 Matte Dial for 1675 GMT Master...in NOS. conditions. http://www.network54.com/Forum/20759...l+red+Gmt+hand BUT when once notice the TOP picture... one would see that BOTH the packing envelopes... in Buddy Dana's possession... are having different hand-written writing of "1675" on the respective envelopes... perhaps meaning BOTH envelopes would NOT have been marked n written by the same person... It could be possible... that the envelope containing the set of 1675 GMT hands may have been "combined" or "mixed-up" intentionally or otherwise... from a separate source by the Sender of those 2 envelopes before Buddy Dana received it... So to assume that the MK.4 Dial comes complete originally with the set of GMT Hands containing... the 24hr All Red hand originally...may thus be unlikely... unless other sources could be found in nearest future... to see if the 24hr All RED hand...could be featured with 1675 MK.4 Dial... Nonetheless... the above is just an opinion from Orchi's novice observation n own finding... the opinions of the others may differ... Best regards Orchi. P/S: Here are various scans of watches that Orchi could gather from various sources... as well as some in own possession...which would illustrate the illusive 24hr All RED GMT hand...stunningly. Presently...due to certain Myth or Beliefs that ROLEX never produced this type of 24hr All RED GMT hands...by certain collectors or resellers... being too eager at times...to wrongly discount the existence of such hand... The availability of the 24hr All Red GMT hands in the market... though on RARE occasions..are still being sold for reasonable prices... However Orchi prays...that after this...the prices won't shoot up by too much...at the hands of the relevant resellers... Thanks for watching... 1675 GMT SquareGuards with Gilt Dial...Pic courtesy of SEA's 1st Class GMT collector... MK.1 GMT Matte Dial...Pic courtesy of SEA's 1st Class GMT collector... MK.2 GMT Matte Dial...1971...from Orchi. Similar MK.2 Matte Dial...1972...Pic courtesy of www.vetroplastica.it LATEST UPDATE: Err...these pictures are excerpt from... the Guido Mondani's book...on Page 157... illustrating the illusive All RED 24hr GMT Hand... in an Oman Military issued Rolex 1675 GMT Master watch... having Case Ref# 3,171,xxx...with what is seen to have the MK.4 Dial Coronet...without SCOC plots. Many thanks to the Little Bird...n thanks to Buddy Frank... of Maritimewatches of the VRF...for this head up... http://www.network54.com/Forum/20759...l+Red+GMT+hand This is the original related thread in the VRF...n the subsequent responses... from some members who might be too eagerl to discount the possibility that... Rolex had indeed produced...the ALL RED 24hr GMT Hand... for early 1675 GMT Master Matte Dial watches... during late 60s n early 70s or so... (perhaps specifically for certain markets only those days) http://www.network54.com/Forum/20759...l+red+Gmt+hand For now...hopefully Orchi is allowed to borrow the following pictures from Mondani's book at Page 157...for posting them...in this TRF forum. Nonetheless...to Buddy Mods...IF this could be seen as a copyright infringement...kindly delete. Best regards Orchi. P/S: Since yesterday...it so happened that there is another set GMT hands... for Rolex 1675 GMT Master...being listed in eBay...which is featuring the RARE ALL RED 24hr GMT Hand...by 1 of VRF's 1st Class Collector/Reseller. Anyway...Orchi prays that after this latest update on the subject matter related to the Rolex 1675 All Red 24hr GMT hand...the auction price won't shoot up by...too much...LOL.! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200331221918 |

Thank you my friend. Your research into the 1675s has been outstanding and exactly what this hobby is all about.

Great post!
I share your findings, and views. I have seen an "all red" 1675 myself, and adressed the issue some time ago on another forum, but was given self confident answers from collectors/sellers on the hands being non-original. What I've learnt about Rolex is not to be sure about anything. I enjoy the hunt for information, and the all red 24h hand needs more research. It is, according to my opinion, way too early to dismiss them as non-original, as some do. It might also be difficult to confirm them as original (but my opinion so far is that they are!). Once again, thanks for a great post, with a nice perspective on things! Well done! Best, A |

I love those vintage Pepsi GMTs. I wish my father would have kept his rather than selling it.

Err buddies...not sure what is happening with Photobucket...
but lately...Orchi too gets the dreaded message..."Bandwidth Exceeded"... whenever Photobucket pictures are being blocked... n not being uploaded... IF you are using Firefox browser... you could try the following... So here it is... what Orchi has discovered to be the quick FIX to the problem... that Orchi wishes to share with the VRF Buddies here... or at the least with those that are using the Mozilla FIREFOX... At the FireFox browser... TYPE...........................: About:config PRESS Enter. When prompted, CLICK............: I would be careful, I promise Next Window would appear. In Field "Filter", TYPE........: network.http.sendRefererHeader FIND that Field at the bottom listing. RIGHT Click the Field, CLICK...: Modify On Next POP-UP, TYPE...........: 0 (instead of "2" as shown) CLICK..........................: OK CLOSE(X) the Window. NOTE: For those that has plenty of pics being hosted in PhotoBucket for FREE... or whenever your FIREFOX Browser fails to upload any pictures... IF you wish to...you could undertake the above measure... so as to prevent the same problem that Orchi had recently... even though...you may have not experienced it...just yet. IMPORTANT: TRY NOT TO BE TOO CURIOUS TO ATTEMPT MAKING OTHER CHANGES IN THOSE OTHER FIELDS found in the FIREFOX system... VOILA!!! ALL the pictures that were seemed to be "WIPE OUT" from the postings... in the relevant Forum...would be uploaded n "RE-APPEAR" again. NOT sure how that problem came about... but the above quick FIX has worked for Orchi... |

It's been quite a few years since this thread started. Is this still the most commonly believed view?
