Icon20 Incoming!

Well yesterday was a good day!

I had a scheduled appointment with my AD to try on some 36mm and 41mm Datejusts (I can wear both sizes on my 7 inch wrist). We ended up chatting for well over an hour about my work, my other watches (was wearing the BB58) and future Rolex pieces. I said how much I love the rhodium dial Yacht-Master 40 - I appreciate the thinner lugs and slimmer case compared to the Sub. She said they had a 37mm version in if I would like to see it to look at the dial (compared to the blue) so went out to get it. When she returned she was smiling and hiding a coffin behind her back. She said, they had a shipment arrived that day and actually had the Yacht-Master 40 and although there are many people looking for the piece she would be happy to give it to me - I was delighted! I know it is not the most desired piece but I really don't care about that - it is a beautiful watch and I am going to enjoy it :)

I am dashing off to the beach now but pictures to follow! I will also update with my first impressions etc.

Happy Saturday everyone.

Congrats great pick up, look forward to the pics, don’t know if it’s a thing with AD’s but when I was in a store they said “oh we’ve just had a delivery today” and bought out a Bluesy which I bought on the spot even though I wasn’t particularly looking at that option.

Congratulations, good choice.

I think Yacht-Master 40 is getting more popular now these days.

I love the YM and I think it is one of the most underrated watches in the Rolex line up. Congrats on a GREAT acquisition and wear the heck out of it!

Thanks everyone - I am super excited with this watch. I think it is the only watch I have that looks even better in full sunlight. The dial is amazing. Pics incoming via Tapa

That's a beautiful watch, the dial pops against the blue hands. Enjoy your first weekend with that beauty.

Fantastic watch! Congrats.

It goes very very well with grey and blue rubber bands. If you go often to the beach such bands would be a nice summer option.

Great point I must look at the rubber straps - thank you.

Shots in direct sun - I love the way the dial changes from slate grey to almost black with that sunburst.

Congratulations!!! That is a beauty and seriously under appreciated model IMO!!! The platinum bezel is a little secret bonus. I bet in the future it’s value will be realized and it will be a highly coveted piece.
