Cartier Service Estimate required.. Graphic content warning

So this popped up and I am considering picking it up.. As you can see there's a water damage and basically the watch is Totalled. It might require a new movement, dial , hands , crystal , crown stem and a good polish.

If any experts could chime in some ballpark figure what it would cost...? So I know what to offer while negotiating. The watch is genuine and 18k full rose gold.

Depending on the condition of the movement it might be salvageable. Best case scenario you have a full service and replace dial and hands.

You can always try an independent to get an assessment before shipping it off to Cartier.

That's probably gonna cost you close to a new watch.

If you are in the US, call 1(800) Cartier and ask for the service department. They are the only ones who can tell you what the cost of the parts and labor will be, since they do not sell parts to outside companies or watchmakers.

I assume that is grams. Looks likes it has $9'000 in gold.

I do this kinds of salvage operations for “fun”.

And I will walk away from this one. Looks like a in-house movement (no parts), bad dial (not popular so 0 chances of getting a replacement of eBay).

Also Catier is not collected by WIS Who appreciate patina on a dial.

As others a said call carrier. Melt the head and resell the bracelet, might be your best bet.

I think it all comes down to the asking price and service cost. I’d be inclined simply go new and save the headache.

^ seems like a lot of work to put into a piece that has sustained significant damage. Also, with watches the original dial is where a lot of the value is at on vintage pieces (not that this is vintage), but it could compromise its value.

It's usually easier, less of a headache, and often less costly to buy the best example of something you can afford to buy, rather than the worst and trying get it fixed
