Surprise Rolex release

With all the speculation surrounding the new Sub on 9/01/2020, I'm curious as to your thoughts on which release/s will fly below the radar. Rolex does this to us time and again and, this year, I think we'll see some tweaks to the Explorer line (I and II, perhaps) the YM II, as well as more color combos in the DJ and DD lines. Just my two cents, of course; yet I thought it'd be nice for us to get off the: "wtf is the new Sub gonna actually be?" discussion for a bit.

As soon as the sun will set on the eve of September 1st, in addition to the barrage of threads on the 2nd that deal with the new Sub, we'll also see a ton of threads that day in the vein of: " HOLY F%C* ... I didn't see THAT coming!"

Incidentally, re: the new Sub, I think it's simply going to be a new movement. Any added color schemes are an an added bonus. Who knows?

dpvillanueva - I think you're right re: AK and Milgauss. If one (or both) aren't discontinued, a retooling may be coming down the pike.

APPRF - Completely agree this might be one of those sneak attacks.

Notepad12 - Wow, great catch! I stand educated and corrected and change my stance. You're right...why would Rolex shoot their wad on the Exp line when they're one year away from the model's 50th?

I just hope they don't put a Ceramic bezel on the Explorer 2.

I don’t think they will, ceramic bezel dose not match the explorer.

I can see some updates to the Yachtmaster line coming out, including ceramic bezels on the stainless steel models as well as white gold versions of the 37/40 on Oysterflex. I think this would be pretty "out of the blue" for Rolex.

I've been thinking about this but I don't know how it would work.
The PM parts of a two-tone watch are usually the centrelinks and bezel. If it gets a ceramic bezel then we are just left with a SS Daytona with gold centrelinks.

That sounds pretty awful.

I think any big "surprises" or "splashes" will be held back for release next spring, rather than offering them into the oddity of a year that 2020 has become. Don't expect much.
