Skx007 replacement rubber straps ** Update **

Posted back at start of month that the strap on my skx007 broke

Thanks for the recommendations on places like watchgekko etc - much appreciated

Decided to be patient & after looking on internet every day - finally managed to get a genuine/ replacement strap for the watch from eBay. The after market straps look good but really wanted to replace like for like

The hardest part was getting the old strap off - total nightmare
The new strap arrived this morning. Fitting the new one - took about 10 seconds a side

Sorry to have to tell you this but the longer half is on upside down (should be smooth side up), and should also be on the six side where the shorter half is.

Going to have to partially disagree, Adam. All my straps are positioned w/ the buckle at 6:00. It centers the buckle under my wrist perfectly.

To each his own, but the first thing I did when I got my SKX009 was to change out the strap. The OEM is stiff and uncomfortable, and I much prefer either aftermarket or one of Seiko's straps for the newer divers. Most of my divers have Barton Bands Silicone Elite straps. I'm a big fan. Currently it's on an Uncle Seiko z199, which is an almost perfect reproduction of one of Seiko's OEM bracelet from their 7548 Quartz Diver.

The OEM straps are plastic and do break over time. That is why companies like Uncle Seiko are around to offer a better version.

Removing stock OEM Seiko Fat Bars suck. If you use the edge of a swiss army knife it tends to make them a little easier to remove.

Just spent 20 mins trying to remove it without success
Going for a cup of tea & then try again before I lose my temper

I would usually have a repairman at a watch store change my straps, unless the watch is of the disposable variety and I don’t care if I screw it up or scratch the watch.

Have not gone to a store lately with the pandemic.

All good in end but hopefully this one last as long as the last one & it’ll be someone else changing the next time ...... !!

How do you like ‘dem apples?!

I just swapped my SRP strap because of the buckle position and whatta ya know? It centered my buckle!

I never wear my straps like this. But I love the OEM SRP strap and it was out of center and switching helped. It’s a long strap to my disappointment but this way feels better.

Would love a strap with the same material and thickness but a shorter tongue end.

New buckle position. Thanks!

I like a heavy duty razor blade with the corner nicked off. It's thinner than the knife but thick enough, and gently slips in there nicely to pop off the bars. Slightly more precise for me and allows me to get close to the bars with a more ergonomic angle.

Just my way of dealing with problematic spring bars. Damn case should have drilled lugs!

It's an easy mistake to make. I got a Tuna back from the Seiko Service centre with the long bit facing the wrong way up once, and didn't notice till I got home.

Yep some guys have been doing that for a while. I personally don't because I work on a laptop most of the day. The buckle rubs the hell out of the laptop.

Glad to help. Not only does it center the buckle, but it also seems more intuitive to strap on.

You can cut the excess strap to length and then finish off with some fine sandpaper.

I was thinking of that. Round it off with a quarter and an exacto blade.
