Retrograding seconds?
I was wondering if anybody who knows watch movements can tell me if retrograding seconds cause more wear on the movement itself as compared to a movemet with the more conventional sweeping seconds. Maybe it's not the case, but i'm thinking any mechanism that has to torque a watch hand from a 60 second position backwards to the 1second position would be under a fair bit of stress.
I am contemplating buying a watch with retrograding seconds and am worried it might cause issues for me down the road in terms of servicing and reliability. Does anyone have any long term experience with a watch that has retrograd seconds? The watch I am considering is the Breguet 5207: |

My wife has a Blancpain Villeret with retro seconds, and it has been absolutely worry-free for the three years she has had it. That Breguet is a dream of mine, BTW, I say GO FOR IT!
