DOUBLE TROUBLE? - Do you like the new twin index markers on the 2020 OP36 and OP41?
So, response to the new 2020 Oyster Perpetual changes has been pretty positive. Updated movement, new larger size, upgraded bracelet. It will sell very well. It will be successful. All that is a given.
Let’s focus specifically on the dial changes. Please feel free to review and discuss any of these particular questions and issues... OR share any comment you have about the dial design: 1. The double batons at 3, 6, 9. Were they needed? Do you like or dislike them? If they were done to fill up dial area, why are they are on both the OP36 AND OP41? 2. Do you think the batons have the “perfect proportions” on both the OP36 and OP41? Or only one of them? 3. Elimination of the “Explorer” dial option. Good move? Keeps the Explorer dial on the Explorer and the OP has its own unique look? 4. The coronet size on the dial. I can’t tell if they are the exact same coronet emblems used on both the OP36 and OP41. But, the proportion of coronet/baton/dial looks perfect on the OP36. On the OP41, the batons are bigger... making the coronet look smaller and weaker. Let’s please have a cordial discussion and refrain from silly or snarky comments. |

I personally like the options they’ve given us with colors and the updated OP line itself for the most part. I do not care for the double batons, they seem to have been a very late after thought. A single larger baton would have sufficed and imo made the dial appear to have been planned instead of painted a fancy color then thrown together the rest of the way.
All that being said, I’m interested and am certain after more exposure to the batons I could get used to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Dislike them personally as I think they are too wide to pair them but that's still only based on pictures.
However, you won't be getting a 'hate' vote from me. Would've liked to see the nay vote box toned down. Cheers Marc |

I don’t think they are bad as everyone makes them out to be. Definitely didn’t like them at first glance but have gotten used to seeing them now and hardly notice them

Indices from early bubblebacks/oysters, Stella reminiscent dials of the 70's, updated case design. It really takes elements from the entire brands history and combines them into one watch. I think it's a great new addition

I find it hardly noticeable, so I don't mind it. I've never been intrigued by the OP but now I am. I'd be between turquoise or yellow and 36 or 41. Wish a 39 existed in these colors.

Like them a lot. I think the new OPs work. Thought it was a good call on Rolex's part too. Reminds me of my Grand Seiko in that particular feature.

I dislike them. I already thought they were large in previous iterations. Now doubling them up it seems to quite literally compound the problem.
Full disclosure though I hate almost all new designs at first and then a year or two later when my eyes adjust to it I like them. Currently all in on dislike though.

.
these "twin indexes" are not new to OP collection of watches. Rolex introduced them in 2014 on OP36. |

I was never a fan of them on the 36, they don’t seem to be a well though out design. I think they could be a little more streamlined, no real thought gone into them, other than sticking two batons together.
Having said that I think they bring some balance to the 41, filling up some of the space on a big dial. I always like the ideas of the black and white 30 OPs but thought even batons looked a bit lost on the the larger dial. I think Rolex are on the right track, but they need to be more refined like the original vintage style of past OPs. |

I could go either way, but do prefer a single index.

The double indices look better on the 41 imo
Overall I like the changes and am eager to see if they continue the trend by adding new colors as time goes by. |

Not the best part of the watch but not a deal breaker.

I’d prefer singles or maybe even a slightly different shape at 3,6,9

The double batons don't bother me but saw the coral red dial in person today and it was horrid. Was excited about the yellow dial but after seeing the red I'm too anxious about it now. Saw a Platinum Day Date with meteorite dial, WOW!

I think they spoil the watch, thicker markers would of worked better

Double Batons = Loving tribute to Invicta/Steiner class watches. Very low
stoop by Rolex. Way to trash up a classic dial. |

I think they should have kept single markers. It just makes it look too crowded.

I like them. More lume, and easier to orientate in darkness rather than just relying on the unlumed area at 12. Also, emphasing the 3-6-9 points is kind of a Rolex thing
