Bring back the 16710 Mindset (rant)
Warning Rant: I know this is not in Rolex’s best interest and maybe not in your interest but I still want it to happen.
I’ve been thinking about a lot of the grey market pricing and it’s just nuts how a BLNR or BLRO is so much more expensive than an LN. or how the Cermit will be so much more expensive than a black sub. I wish Rolex would just go back to the 16710 days. For the steel GMT and Sub, dials would be all the same, and the customer could swap for any bezel configuration at a later date. This is the case for the 16710 and for this reason, in the 16710 market there isn’t a premium for Pepsi, Coke, LN because changes are possible (though getting harder but still do able). Likewise dials should be interchangeable for a reference number. As an example, 116500 owners should be able to swap. That’d crush the 5K premium for a white dial over the black. And the other benefit of this is that it would disincentive bezel fakes. If you ever wanted to buy a five digit Kermit, you know what I mean. Yes I know this is NOT in Rolex’s best interest nor in the interest of those who picked the right color bezel/dial. Rant over!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The 16710 is the perfect watch in my opinion if you get bored with the look you can switch out the bezel go from a coke to a Pepsi or black, but it’s not a good watch for Rolex they would want you to buy 2 or 3 watches these days and that’s what makes the GMT the perfect watch.

Changing dials is tricky. Especially for a Daytona. Hardly a simple risk-free affair. The latest lug shrinkage will ensure 5 digit appreciation continues to grow.

We don’t change the dial on 16710s. Just the bezel insert!

Will never happen. Hard configuration settings Ensures people buy new watches for diff configs.
I think Rolex made a mistake (business mistake) with the 16710 and have corrected for it. My fav watch of all time. |

This will be the domain of Tudor. I’m sure they’ll release new GMT’s with different color ways in the next few years and their alumni bezels will be swappable. That ship has sailed for the crown!

I agree with the OP. I'd love to be able to change dials at an AD or RSC without having a "full service". Ship has sailed, unfortunately.

I think the 16710 is the best kept secret in all of Rolex. Totally agree the ship has sailed for six digits.

Can't agree anymore, I like the 3 bezel color options for 16710.

Does the old LV bezel work on the 16710?

Bring back the 16710 Mindset (rant)
We’re all being taken for a ride, ladies and gentleman. Rolex is trying to position itself closer to AP and the like, and they brought Tudor back to America to fill the spot that Rolex used to occupy. So, while Old Rolex used to leave some room for customizability in the interest of customer satisfaction, the New, more pretentious Rolex won’t.
New Rolex regards its former customer base with disdain and would like us go buy something else, anything else, because we are not worthy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I hear the sentiment that Tudor will fill this void. I've read online and it seems like as of now, Tudor will not allow bezel swaps. Can someone confirm that?
