Lapis 16018

Hi All - I've recently started hunting for a Lapis Datejust or Day-Date and came across this one. Its a 16018, I dont have info on serial but since these come with a hefty price for Datejusts, wanted to get your opinion.

The first thing that jumps out at me is the luminous hands vs. the traditional no lume hands. Anything else I should be looking for?

Thank you

Hands are easily replaced. It may have been a request of the original owner to have lume. Usually it would have come with non-luminous hands.

I’d get a closer look, appears like there’s a possible hairline crack in the dial running from the center to the 8 o’clock region, from the center around the one o’clock up to around the crown(looks like the crack runs under the text, and possibly has an arm that forks off to the date window)

Could just be the natural stone texture but I’d want lots of pics from every angle

This thing is full of cracks, it's losing prob 60+% of its value because of that. How many hallmarks does it have on the back of the lugs? The above poster is correct, it probably should have come with non-lume hands.

Lapis does have the possibility of having a vein running through it since it is a natural stone. Those do look like cracks though which I would look at very closely with a loupe to see for sure.

I would not buy a cracked dial.
