1675 GMT - 1977 Radial Dial
I'm considering buying a 1675 GMT - 1977 Radial Dial and would like to hear your opinion.
The watch has all original parts except a newer service bezel insert. Should i spend 1500-2000Euro on an original late 70's bezel and "complete" the watch? It has been polished (Too much?) This is my main concern. How can I tell if its too much? Price: 18.700Euro (Reasonable?) Lastly: I'm very conflicted if I should spend a little more and get a 1655 instead. (fuck) I would like to add some photos but since this is my first post I'm not allowed? |

1675 Mk3 radial is a fantastic watch.
The value is in the dial. A period red back bezel insert would only be around €1200, it depends on taste. I like the look of a fresh service dial.....each to their own. Re case and polishing, we need to see photos. Here's mine for reference. Quote:

The dial on the watch I'm considering is beautiful with very nice cream patina plots.
And no flaws. Yours is also very nice! The case and crown guards resembles alot - is yours polished? |

If you want informed advice, you should really post some good photos. You can post them using the insert image tool, but they have a size limit.

Not sure on the prices of these, seems high but so does everything now. I paid about a third of that in 2015

All a matter of personal opinion, but if I were looking at spending 15000-20000 eur on a watch I would patiently look for an unpolished example. They are out there but usually not for long. Best of luck.

I would go for a 1655.....my reading of your post is that is the watch that you really want.

One can almost always find any number of nice 1675s on the market for a price, but people just don't turn those good 1655s loose very often.

I’m honestly very divided on the 1675 vs 1655. I have long been keen on the 1655 but recently the Radial dial came to my attention and is messing with my priorities.
I have found a couple of 1655’s but they are all starting at 20K-euros. What would you say defines a “good 1655”? And what would the patient price range be on both watches? |

It's pointless to generalize, but if you are considering a particular 1655, feel free to start a thread and I'm sure you'll get feedback.

Examples of radial GMTs have all but dried up - contrary to popular opinion. If you find a nice one, expect to pay in the low $20,000 range or more.

Beware that the one you're considering, BlueDefender, had an odd year engraving in the caseback. Rolex ended that practice in 1972, so I don't know why it's on that watch from 1976.

OP what's the serial on the case? As for the 1655 question, just make sure you buy the watch you want. If you don't get the one you want, you'll only pine for the other... |
