Dallas RSC..

So to keep it short, my sub which is still under warranty developed an issue where when you would move your wrist quickly or lightly shake the watch it felt like it would buzz/vibrate. Either like the rotor was impacting the movement or like the mainspring would slip/unwind idk. On top of that there was a white piece of dirt or dust on the dial that annoyed the hell out of me.

Go through an AD and they send it to RSC Dallas, get a call 2 weeks later (myself and AD were surprised at the turn around as they quoted 12 weeks) that it is back and complete.. Pick up the watch still exhibiting the same symptom, and they clearly never took the watch apart as the dial still has the piece of dirt on it.

Is this what i should come to expect from Dallas? Bit annoyed and frustrated and just hoping it will come back actually fixed this time around

I will add, dealing with Dallas resulted in lesser than my expectations of a positive outcome. My watch while repaired, was delayed by months, (somewhat frustrating but understandable during this pandemic), it was returned totally filthy along with some new battle scars scratches...If in my future I find the need to use Rolex Service it will be in Geneva.

definitely less than confidence inspiring, admittingly it has already taken a hit with this. I would be pretty pissed if it came back in worse condition than it went there in, i dont mind/care about scratches they are a part of life, as long as i am the cause of them

Just to show its difficult to figure out statistics from small samples, I've had Rolex RSC Dallas work on perhaps eight watches with excellent, prompt results and no scratches (at least visible to the unassisted eye). Same for perhaps three watches at NYC RSC.

Is it the Sub with the non ball bearing rotor? You probably have a bad rotor axle.

Yes The Rolex RSC had one of my Rolex in 3 times for the same issue before they actually fixed it.

After that issue, I vowed never to send a Rolex into RSC for work unless it was a warranty issue (and then I still would be very reluctant to send it in). I have not yet been disappointed in the watchmakers I have taken them to since.

Good luck in getting your watch fixed. I hope it comes back good as new

I have sent probably 7 watches to RSC NYC and never had any issues. I don't remember turnaround times but they always looked brand new when I got them back.

yeah it is a 116610LN so it doesn't have the ball bearing rotor. Thanks just want it all to be properly sorted even if it takes a while, have other pieces to wear anyway.

not entirely sure, once i noticed the noise issue, just put it in the safe until i was able to make it to my AD. prior to noticing all seemed fine, well aside from the speck of dust on the dial.

Last year my AD sent in a new 116508 gold Daytona to RSC as it didn’t work correctly after first day of ownership. The watch would seize if you were running Chronograph. Watch came back 6 weeks later and I’m convinced they didn’t even open it up, Issue not resolved. They had to send it back again and it took another 6 weeks to finally fix it. I’m not sure which RSC was used since the AD handled things. Very disappointing in Rolex, especially for as much as I spent on the watch. Questionable quality control. You would think Rolex might process quicker since I was sold a broken watch but zero help.

This freaks me out, I was close to sending my grail YG Daytona PN dial to Dallas for service. Now I'm not sure what to do...

I had a bad experience with my brand new Daytona, that has a miss align bezel and the chrono hand was damaged. The watch was there for 4 weeks came back , to find out that they damage the hour and minute hands !!!
They send the watch to PA where they replace the hands
It took 4 more weeks for that repair.

Yeah this is what it comes down to for me. Do I want to roll the dice on the RSC? No way. There's an excellent local watchmaker in my city, and there's always the option of Rolliworks or LAWW.

RSC should be the definitive spot for Rolex service. Sad that it's not.

Sorry to hear this. Had same issue with my Sub Date. I contacted Dallas RSC, sent watch in, very happy with the result and whole experience.

Those damn new battle scars really hurt. Oh man...got mine back from Dallas RSC yesterday, after having to send it back with issues stemming from beginning of March and new issues created due to their handling

But I heard there was literally an army of watchmakers specifically handling my case -- they knew from the stickers that I'm trouble! LMAO.

Edit, I should note that watch is keeping perfect time though, well within spec less than 1 s/d which I can self regulate depending on how I place it at night. LOVE that.

You know I'm huge at trying to make people smile but what was so funny? My watch was so dirty I didn't recognize it....I had to scrub off grease, grime, smudges, fingerprints, and who knows what else was on it. The new scratches were mainly on the back case, like it sat in dish with nothing between the clasp and the case, then shaken for a month! The back case didn't have a mark on it...I guess I could argue and check the original "as received" notes but....Oh well....not trying to send it back for another three to four months.....


Edit: I just checked the original work order, it wrongly states the case back was scratched....I have nothing to stand on......Keep in mind it was only 52 day old and babied...

Good read. Since I don't wish to polish anything other than gold PCLs on my watches ever again I think I'll stick to smaller operations in California for my services. Jewels... Rolliworks, LAWW etc.

Just to give an update.
Recieved the sub back from dallas and all appears to be ok, the noise is no longer present. No dust on the dial. There are some marks on the back from the bracelet removal, however that is minor to me, have plenty of scratches from me already. Watch thus far is keeping +2.7 sec, was around +1 sec before the issue, they did a full service. This is good enough for me, has only been a few days of wear so it may settle in a bit.
Overall satisfied, not happy that it took 2 trips though for clear as day issues.

my wife's datejust had the same issue, you'd move your wrist and you would feel a vibration from the rotor, NY fixed it and quicker than stated, hopefully if you send it back they will get it right

they never told us the cause, just that they gave it a full service

Sorry should have read the update, glad they fixed it and my wife's also came back with some marks on the lugs from the bracelet removal.
