it depends on where. In the USA they shouldn't. other countries apparently they can.

Direct Answer: No.

Nuanced Answer: If they sell pre-owned watches and the watch is described as such, they can ask whatever they want. However, this would need to be transparent to you that you're purchasing a pre-owned watch.

There is one AD I know sells above MSRP.

Basically what happened was I asked them if they have SS Daytona in stock and they said yes and willing to sell me MSRP + Current market premium (About $10,000) in cash.

They said I can pay however I like for the MSRP but the premium must be paid with cash.

Of course this AD is known for bundling junks to get you qualified for desirable piece.

I'm not going to say the AD name but they are in SoCal (Border of LA and Orange County).

So much speculation...but I'm pretty sure that's at least one reason why a local store was stripped of its Rolex account last year.

Shady ADs should be reported to Rolex. AD should not do that and must follow Rolex guidelines.

And it they are taking cash, it probably doesn't appear on the books. There are worse things than Rolex pulling a store's account.

AD owner - $5k
Manager - $3.5k
SA - $1.5k

I know one of my AD's SA is very shady and I know he does backdoor deals.
So, I once tested him with $5k cash in his pocket for him to sell me D500 at MSRP, and he can keep box and papers for later pickup. He said no.
This tells me he gets more than $5k backdooring it to someone else.

I believe you are referring to Bhindi Jewelers...they have been doing this crap for years.

It's hard to believe that just to buy a stainless steel Rolex sport watch one has to involve in shady business dealing and to mention the danger of walking around with 10,000 cash in LA. Sounds like organized crime to me.

Im not in the us, im from south america. Earlier this week i got a calla from one of the most famous ad in the country, and was directly asked for $22.000 for the first sub lv that arrived from the 2020 models. I was going to post about it but then i started reading that is somewhat normal.. and was going to send an email to Rolex but then felt that i would get nowhere, and that this is how things are being managed right now... also i was told that rolex is aware of this practice from ads(meaning that they know about it and wont do anything about it). Sorry for the poor English i should post more often to practice haha

In North America and Europe, No. You may get a bundling deal but never over MSRP on one single item. In Asia, Yes.

Yes, they can, and do, just as easily as they can discount if they choose to.

MSRP is a suggested price that almost everything sold has listed. It's frowned on, but it's done all the time.

As I get older, time is more valuable than money.
Paying more to have something sooner becomes increasingly a good value, or less a poor value.

If there are no laws against not selling at MSRP, then it's just a business policy by Rolex and their ADs.

Shop wherever you feel comfortable. They cannot rip you off if you do not participate in their antics.

If My AD pulled that crap on me, I'd laugh in their face and wave bye-bye. Too many other AD's around <well, where I live, anyway> that treat people right.
