I doubt it's a problem, any half decent company/copier would have an original, strip it apart and get the dimensions and materials from there.

To copy a Panerai would be simple, same with Rolex, the only reason that there are so many bad copies is the limited state of the companies doing this, if you got a half decent company who spent money on the equipment i dare say they would knock out a scarily accurate copy.

As for copying an ETA, well that's all it is in most of the Panerais, but also remember that Rolex have very basic in-house movements, they follow the same principles for timekeeping (i.e. have a similar build standard, materials, etc) and are very plain, it would be a different story trying to copy a Patek or a JLC/VC that's been hand produced and hand engraved.

I don't know. But in some Japanese Magazines, they have watch brand looks similar with Panerai specially Radiomir model.

So let's get this straight. They are only copying J and K series watches, which means that they would be concentrating solely on those with the new strap changing system, which rules out the Radiomirs. Now, the new L series Luminors, other than those with the new in-house movements, will be identical to the J's an K's with the exception of production numbers. Why would they stop at just J's and K's? If they have the info, they can just keep going. Plus, it would be smarter and easier for them to copy the older versions, since they would have a much greater database with which to work with. Something doesn't seem right.

Not sure if its true dave...but its much easier to copy the new ones because its easy to sell new ones than the old ones...what i heared is i can have a k watch right now with the exact serial number on it as for the counterfeits...i dont know the whole story but its just a rumor...but you know paneristi will cover it what ever it takes.....
