Grey or AD?

Hello
Can someone tell me what they think is the best way to buy a New GMTII-C
Grey or AD? I know you may pay more at the AD but what are the pro's and con's of both?

Interesting subject!!!

All the AD's i've been to will only give Max 15% on WG and on Steel 5-10%

If you purchase to Grey they get there stock for an AD but you will get a much better discount... The warranty card will have your name on it as well as the AD they purchased your watch from.

They tend to get a better price as they purchase in bulk!!!

I would go Grey...

many Grey dealers around.

Regards

Umster

I had a chance to purchase from a grey but I turned to my AD. Just my preference.

It comes down to what's more important to you, price or service. for me it was price so i went grey, if you want brick and mortar security then go with an AD. I'm on board with the feeling that a few hundred dollars is worth the peace of mind of buying from and AD, but I also understand wanting the best price possible on a watch that needs little to no support from a middle man, that's why I went grey

Is it not Mina any more? I used to deal with Allun a lot at FH. EJ don't have any, they are quoting the usual "waiting list item"

I will only purchase from Gray dealers or from respected members on this forum for my next purchase. I have had experience with 2 gray dealers and will definitely go to them and see what kind of deal I can get through them. I like to shop around. When I'm ready to pull the trigger on my next watch, I'll also contact a couple members here to see what they can do as well.

The AD can't match the prices that the gray dealers or some of our members here can do. And those gray dealers and members here will not sell a fake, so I have total peace of mind.

I will only buy from AD. I never opened the back of any of my watches to check what's in it. Have a friend who purchased a second hand Rolex and it was only when he took it for service many years after did he find out that the inner workings of the watch had been replaced and the outer casing was all original!

What about BNIB from grey dealer? Comes out direct from the AD, your name on papers, but much bigger discount than is available direct, with no wait?

I would rather have the peace of mind, most GD operate from home and they are only buying in good faith themselves. As with a lot of these types of watches they change hands many times between dealers. I have a very good relationship with the AD's I deal with and only recently purchased a SS Daytona for my younger brother with no wait from my AD. Discount is not everything. I suppose it's the same why some people buy new cars and some used and some buy from a broker. No way is wrong just not right for me.
