The V serials did come out in 2008.
I purchased a Sea Dweller and was surprised to see it was a V serial. The code on the paperwork, which my AD deciphered for me showed it was a 2008 batch. The serial is not connected to the year. I.E. Rolex does not change the serial every year, they wait for the numbers to run out and then come out with the next serial alpha. |

For example, "M" had only been released for a few months when we started seeing the "V", so it can be surmised that the allocation of "Z" numbers had been getting low. This does not mean that "Z" production stopped..........There were still probably many "Z" numbers, especially for slower moving models, yet to be actually assembled, and so probably all 3 prefixes were carried into 2009 "Z", "M", and "V".

So if you buy a Z Sub in 2009 is it worth less than a V sub?

Harvey,
You're digging up old threads and likely to get different answers unless you are more specific.. As I understand it, you have a Serti Sub, which is more likely to be found in a Z currently than finding a very fast moving Stainless Steel model.. But to answer your question....... At a Dealership, both Subs would be new and of equal value; they would not distinguish either by their serial number. However, you are more likely to see Z models on the used market at a reduced price

I very much doubt that you'll be able to find a bnib Z Serial SS Sub at an AD. This model moves very quickly out their doors. You'll most likely encounter a M Serial, and the V Serial are just starting to appear.
