My first Rolex purchased from Russia

After years of collecting, I finally bought an old Oyster 3478 from Crimea Russia. Never before used Russian 'for sale' sites, never met the seller, never saw the watch, but it was inexpensive and I was willing to take a chance.

After agreeing on the price, I had to figure out how to transfer money to him. Once that was done, he shipped. 10 days later i had it in my hands.

More of a parts watch, but the dial is original, cal 59 is nice with a good balance, and amazing case - sharp edges and all around beautiful.

I tried to buy something from Russia once and I think I'm probably still on four or five watch lists lol. Never got it bought either, my bank thought i was the devil incarnate. Never again!

Beautiful old trooper Vlad, maybe Tommy could sort it out for you.

The internet is amazing, what’s a Crimean 3478 go for? Interesting story for sure, wonder how it ended up there(might not want to)

Thank you!

I looked around and found some hands and a crown for this little oyster.

On a funnier side, checked my Oyster box and found a very similar that I already had (2,000 serial number difference)

Exactly, if you really are down about having 2 I’ll gladly double your money

Great score. Glad to know there’s little hidden gems still out there. I picked up a w&d trench watch off eBay for $8 about 5 years ago and was over the moon despite it being nothing more than a scrap watch
