I am have having a thirst for a SS SkyD black dial! I have relationship with my AD but each time I asked for a desirable SS piece, I am pretty much politely being denied! I am thinking of working with a grey seller trading in my TT SeaDweller for it. I understand sellers are in it for a profit so I know i will take a hit but as long as i am not it being raped, I can live with it. My main concern is shipping my watch to the seller. Also i am not familiar with the landscape of the gray market sellers. Any guidance would be appreciated!

After trade in, you may have to add an addition 5-6k.
Try DavidSW. Well respected and trusted dealer. |

When I got my Sky pre Covid black dials were $16.5, but I see no reason why things will get soft anytime soon, seems more and more models are getting harder to acquire and costing more money. It's a hard call, if you love it and want it now, you will need to dig deep. Every time I put mine on, puts a smile on my face. Good luck, It's an insane flashy Bad Boy, love love mine!!

Suggest to privately sell your SD rather than giving it on trade-in, at least that way you don’t get a double loss

I was lucky ...waited three months for the black SkyD in 2019 .
Had to drive 12 hours in one day to collect it . Before that ,saw the black at an AD that was waiting collection .Just loved the black dial .I never tire of black dials and have numerous blue dials in the collection . I went for black ,where most likely, most wants blue . SkyD ...I give it the highest recommendation ! ![]() The excess paid at Darth Vader ,seen spread over decades of service and enjoyment ,isn't that high to pay . Always see Rolex with long term eyes. This short term feeding frenzy, mostly for a short term buck, is rather cheap in my eyes . |

I went grey for mine and have never regretted it. I couldn't get on a list. I would have been prepared to wait but it wasn't going to happen.
I later added a TT white. I wouldn't trade a TT Sky Dweller for the SS but if that's your goal, at least most of the sting will be neutralised. And you'll end up with another Sky Dweller - the best possible result. |

If you go grey prepared to be taken to the cleaners on your TT SD trade value and then be taken to the cleaners on your SkyD premium

Got my wife got a white SkyD a month or two ago from DavidSW, as even with a decent relationship at 2 AD’s we had no chance. Other than paying market price, which nobody likes, it went perfect and no regrets.

My best advice is to stick to the most trusted sellers- the big names you see referenced on the forums, the ones who have been around for years. Some make it incredibly easy to ship your watch, providing pre-printed mailing label.

Try selling to trusted sellers first. You may get better offer on cash than trade. Then shop around to buy the SkyD. That way you don't limit yourself to the trade offer because they have the watch that you want.... As far as shipping, ask them to email you a insured shipping label. But ship only to trusted sellers here, coz some buyers may try to low ball you once they receive the watch. Make sure you describe your watch the best you can so no surprises.
Looks like you have an open mind and you know the market so expect to lose on the deal. For, me, the only way I'll trade is if I absolutely don't want the watch I'm trading anymore. Otherwise, I don't like losing money just to scratch the itch. |

Same thing happen to me when I asked my AD to put me on the list for SDJC they told me that its going be hard but I said I am a good customer of you guys and you can check my purchase history. 2 to 3 mos later got a phone call that they have allocated me a JC and ready for me to pick up if I still want it. Got offered twice to pick up the black SkyD but I refused politely since I'm after a JC. So may the force be with you....
