Wife noticed my new purchase today...

Let me start off by saying, over the last twenty plus years of my obsession with buying watches and cars, she’s only commented and complimented me twice, one was a Porsche I bought (my all time favorite car) and the other, is the 122610LV I bought last week at my AD. She started off by saying, “did you purchase yet another watch!”, to which I casually said, no, this is the same Hulk I’ve always had. Then she called my bluff and went to my watch holder and busted me.

She then asked me to try on both. So I put them on side by side, and she was surprised by just changing the dial to black what a sharp difference it made (she didn’t comment on the other details).

Anyway, the reason I bring this up, if after twenty plus years my wife has finally commented on a watch she likes, it just cements my own belief, this is one of the best modern SS watches Rolex has released to date (not counting five digits)

My wife used to hate my car and watch obsession. She couldn’t understand why I would want more than one watch or why I would want a new car every other year.

She is on board now. Lately she has said she is keen to get a new Rolex of her own, even googled and showed me some images. And she even wants to see images of the new GLE 63s.

I am shocked lol
She has become an enabler

I’m really kind of impressed with the fact that you casually lied to your wife, she called you on it, and still got on board with you. That’s a tale to remember for sure.

Thank goodness we have understanding wives. I know I'd be pissed if mine spent on shoes or purses as much money as I've spent on watches. We are very fortunate in many ways.

My fault. She wants me to re-size my sub for her. But she is a destroyer of watches and I said no. If I had done so, she may not have decided to look for her own.

It’s good though, I am happy with it.

My first wife obsessed over my watch purchases. Among other luxury items. She was always asking me how much I spent on this one and why did I waste money “on that one when it looked so much like the first one.” She did not show these behaviors until we were married. She was well aware that I brought the majority of - ahem - resources to the union and yet was fairly strident in trying to control these purchases.

She didn’t last. I miss her sometimes. Not. Number two has much healthier outlook on this subject. Live and spend within your means. Be responsible and reasonable. Communicate. No lying or hiding.

Hahahah, so you couldn’t tricked her :-)
Of course, the black dial makes the bezel green bezel stands out way more than it does on the old version.

You got her approval:) You can either quit while you’re ahead. Or perhaps you have a new watch buddy so you can grow your collection even more :)

I like your new watch better than the Hulk also. Your wife sounds like a good sport. I’m lucky to be married to my best friend also. She even gave me her blessing to get my grail watch which I’m still waiting for. Congrats!

Totally agree my wife says the same about my Kermit... She love the black dial

Too funny. I see two common threads here, one, many of us are fortunate enough to have understanding wife’s, I’m one of those. The other, there is a big purchase upcoming for my wife, she’s not one to make big purchases without me involved. I don’t think my wallet would cover both my wife and I with my type of spending habits on my obsessions!

Love reading the comments.

Huge congrats on your acquisition! Never attempt to bamboozle any woman much less your wife, they are the smart beings on the planet. Enjoy them in the best of health!
