Current state of inventory in Vancouver BC?

Like the title states, wondering how the current state of inventory for the Vancouver market is doing? Still nothing in stock I assume as the city is swimming in money?

Vancouver is one of the worst markets to buy anything in. Low number of ADs in general and a lot of wealthy individuals.

Simple as that. Everything else brews out of it like.... i.e. bundling, AD games, etc.

It's been like this for several years now and its only getting worse.

Sadly, I have to agree with 2nastie. There is A LOT of money, local and foreign, young and old, in Vancouver and it's surrounding suburbs. Where I live, there seems to be more $100+k cars on the road than Toyotas and Hondas. You know it's bad when a Porsche 911 is no longer a head turner and BMWs are considered middle of the road. True story, a Rolls Royce stopped beside me at a red light ... I had to sneak a peek and the driver looked 19 years old. The funny thing is that I wasn't surprised by that! Back to the OP's question, presently, without a strong purchase history, or bundling, you have 0% chance of getting a SS Professional model in Vancouver.

Ya I figured that I haven't been out that way in a while but always good to hear it first hand. Maybe some day it'll figure itself out.

Agree with your above comment. It is nearly impossible to get a Rolex professional watch in Vancouver unless you bundle something together. And even so that will not guarantee you the watch you want.

Current state of inventory in Vancouver BC?

I was in Vancouver last year. Saw seven Lambos in a row - all drivers were in their mid-20s. Clearly part of a group, but on the weekends in particular the cars come out there.

Been in the two downtown ADs a bunch of times. Far better treatment at Palladium.

Overall, the city has the feel of Asian money and Asian money laundering. That translates into Rolexes being even more impossible to get.

Was offered bundle options at the AD / boutique next to Urban Fare.

Super high tax rate of 12 percent. Sometimes you get great exchange rate arbitrage opportunities if you’re a U.S. buyer - e.g. when the USD hit 1.43 last year.

I wonder how many ADs there are in Canada. Calgary only has 3 ( 2 really - one AD has two stores in Calgary and also has stores in Vancouver and Montreal...they collectively can act as one large AD so buyers aren’t just competing against others in their city but with multiple cities. I know they aren’t putting names on a list. We don’t even have too much in the way of grey dealers either. Vancouver has so much money (a lot of it coming in from Hong Kong) it would be hard place to get any sought after Rolex models.

Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton are literally no go for any pieces with or without buying history honestly. There is so many big players in the little pond most of these guys are buddy buddy with the owners and usually always get first dibs on all the hot pieces I was lucky to get my Rootbeer and Pepsi at retail but had to buy multiple pieces and send allot of business their way in order to get some where

On a positive note, it should be easier to get something there compared to Australia lol

Hahaha define easy...

I'm not sure how the market is in Australia (be it hard like everywhere else in the world). As long as you spend money and lots of it (within a single purchase), I'm sure you can procure a SS piece like most places.

Vancouver has been dollar based, model based, per purchase for a while now. Many long term customers who previously purchased assortment of watches (and of different brands) spanning a decade or so can't even get a SS model based on merit. Most ADs here are acting on the "what have you done for me lately" approach.

There are a couple sales I like dealing with at a Rolex AD, but personally other brands locally are better to deal with from a customer relationship standpoint...

Vancouver is the worst, Australia is the worst, London is the worst, Singapore is the worst, NY is the worst, LA is the worst.

I really want to know who wins.

ny isn't that bad because there are a bunch of small ADs in jersey you can drive to. its only bad if you expect to get a steel piece from midtown manhattan

Calgary is now officially down to 2, as Brinkhaus dropped Rolex (or at least they explained it that way, that they were tired with the lack of inventory).

It's pretty much slim to none in Vancouver. Only other option is the grey market but you have to pay an arm and leg for lol!!!

Too bad the boarder is closed. I'd love to come up for some White Spot and buy a bunch of Smarties and Oh Henry's. I hate not being able to visit!

I'm looking to buy a TT daytona in Vancouver my family already has a small purchase history with monte cristo should I try going there or is it better to try the new rolex store on Alberni?

Good luck in Vancouver! You will get the generic response from the AD.

Call RDV in Toronto. They usually carry TT Daytona’s.

You can try Montecristo first as your family had purchase history before.

I complain about the Toronto market, but then I remind myself of the Vancouver market and realize at least I have a chance. In Vancouver you have zero chance unless you're a Chinese billionaire.

from what i heard these days the Vancouver market is barren wasteland for SS models unless you're VVVVVIP client (e.g. $100k per year spending history client)

I remember a few years i stopped by Vancouver on business and popped into the Rolex Boutique on Alberni St. i asked for SS Daytona and the SA said clients for that watch need to purchase 2 PMs to be eligible. I said thanks and left.

I'm sure its worse now and they probably don't even tell you where the goal line is. They just have you keep buying and "hoping" that one day you'll get the call.

I don't think any of the other ADs in Vancouver will be that much better.

Unfortunately, there's a large wealthy population for a relatively small city.

Add in very large Chinese population and significant money laundering in Vancouver and it’s a difficult market.

The boutique on Alberni is coldly polite and worthless. The AD around the corner is far friendlier and has other interesting brands including FPJ.

Toronto market is just as bad

And the lack of grey dealers in Canada makes the Canadian grey market "extortion" level

Not sure what you guys are talking about but here in Cleveland there are 4 independent AD's and they have all the stock you could want! Over the past year I purchased the Batman and Rootbeer. The "mistake on the lake" no longer!

This sounds rough. When the borders open up again, consider a road trip to Ben
Bridge in Lynnwood WA and/or Ben Bridge in Bellevue WA and get on the list with both of those stores.

Go see Elizabeth (or Katy) @ Alderwood Mall Ben Bridge or Stacy N. @ the Ben Bridge at Bellevue Square.

Yes you should consider buying a pair of earrings or a necklace to show you're establishing a history of some sort. I did - and no it wasn't even that much $

My wait for an Explorer II was about 7 months. At least it was MSRP+10% WA sales tax. And that just beats the snot out of gray prices.

Seriously, Vancouver is nutsville right now. Don't bother.
