Wtf?

I noticed a second hand jewellers had a TT DJ in his window, described as having a President bracelet, which it didn’t.
Me being a helpful chap, I popped my head around his door, and apologised for my intrusion, but the watch didn’t have a President, but the ubiquitously fitted Jubilee.
He disagreed, despite having a Jubilee bracelet adorning his Batman GMT 2!
He also pulled out a quite old ladies Date, saying ‘surely this is a Jubilee’?
I agreed that it was, but because of its small size it looked slightly different.
It wasn’t until I Googled a photo of a President that he finally took my word for it.

Surely someone wearing a watch on a Jubilee bracelet would recognise one on another watch? 🤔

And when I go to the car dealer, I often know more about the car than any salesperson and certainly more than the GSM or GM. In the Information Age, it’s not uncommon for an enthusiast to know more about an item than the person responsible for selling it.

An expert usually finds myriad issues in any line of business.

Those who insert unsolicited opinions almost never elicit gratitude.

The store owner trying to sell a watch should at least know what he has, imho. He sounds like someone trying to make a quick buck.

As mentioned above that is rarely the case. The car dealer network is the perfect example where as the educated and enthusiastic know more than the salesman.

Same goes on in pretty much every industry.

There's so many models of Rolex, and then there's so many brands and their various models, hard to be an expert on them all.

Run into the same stuff in the motorcycle industry

Actually it's pretty easy to research on line. Especially the difference between a Jubilee and President bracelet.

Absolutely, I am only referring to mental retention when talking.

Product description in window being wrong is inexcusable

Just because it is easy doesn't mean that people make the (limited) effort.

But when the guy is actually wearing the same bracelet how could he possibly mistake it for a President? 🤔

That’s a very polite way of saying it
