OP41 Coral Red

Is OP41 Coral red hard to obtain?

Just before the lock down I sent to a Goldsmiths store and I was told OP41 coral red was very difficult to obtain. The sales guy said it was selling for nearly double the retail in the grey market!

The coral, yellow, turquoise, and green dials are much harder to source from an AD than the silver, black, or blue. I don’t think they are unobtainable though I would ask around at several AD’s.

I was offered one three weeks after I asked for it but had to turn it down. Just the day before I had purchased a five figure mountainbike and did not feel good about another hobby purchase so soon. My SA told me no problem, just let him know when I’m ready again.
Like everyone says, the brightly colored ones are all in high demand. If you want a black, blue, or silver there’s a much shorter wait.

Thanks

I was told turquoise blue was the most sought after followed by coral red. I like the coral red more than the turquoise blue but yet to see those in person

Yes, they are hard to get. Mostly for the "quirkiness" and people expecting them to get the "Hulk treatment."

Having seen those colors in person, the colors are too flat to my taste, e.g. the green takes a puke green effect too often. Sunburst would've been an absolute killer.

They are not hard to get just like all the rest of the Rolex lineup but you might have to wait just like everyone one else. And never believe what most sales guys tell you, only complete idiots would pay nearly double for any Rolex watch. It's not like the colour dials are anything new on the OP, they were available way back in the 1970s then called stella dials.

It's easy enough to see for yourself what they're selling for...just take a peek at the classified.

Yeah just keep waiting. I know SAs that quit, even died while people are still waiting for watches. Not hard to get lol

Where is your cut off Padi? Double the price is a no-go? I've also heard you say paying a dime over retail makes you an idiot. Glad I got my 116500 3 years ago for $16k. What an IDIOT I was!!!! Should have totally just kept waiting

You're right, I should have just kept waiting while people literally passed away and the price hits $28k (and rising).

That said, every AD I've talked to has barely seen these stella-ish dials come through. No one knows if they will remain difficult to get, but at the moment there aren't a lot out there. I just picked up the 36mm Coral red for my wife. I had 6 different ADs genuinely trying to get it for me, ended up buying it privately as it was a birthday gift and had to make a move.

Haven't seen a 41mm yet in person, but I imagine its the same watch with just bigger proportions. The dial color is incredible. It's hard to look away. I always liked it, but figured it was kind of a ladies color. I would 100% wear it in 41mm. Good luck!

Unless you have clout you shouldn't expect to find one anytime soon. Rolex has stopped taking orders on all the new colored OPs from stores.

I want to hear more about his bike. Can you take a pic of the Bike with a Rolex on to qualify the post?

I think it all depends on where you're at. Here in the US, my AD has gotten two coral red 41s in the last month. I talked with a couple of the other local ADs and they are getting 41s in as well but in the different colors. So far at least where I'm at, all the 36s are impossible to get. There's still a wait for the 41s, but folks are getting those much quicker than those waiting on 36

OP41 Coral Red

They kind of look cheap in person, if you’re used to chunky SS sports watches or PM dress watches.

i tried on the op41 in green....didn't do anything for me. I'd much rather yellow or turquoise. I wonder why the op36 is more difficult to get. I'd rather a op36 myself.

That's the 36mm one. Are they any easier? I think I actually prefer it. For myself. ..Does that make me a girly man?

Thanks for the advice

I have made few enquiries over the phone and an AD said he will be able to get me a OP41 coral red before Xmas.

I think Goldsmiths were just playing the usual AD games
