Anniversary gift

A little background. I've been into watches for almost 30 years and have owned most brands (AP, Vacheron, Omega, Panerai, GP, Breitling and of course Rolex). I've always had a love affair with the Submariner and have owned most iterations over the years beginning with a 16610 that I bought new in 1999 while in Europe. A few years ago I decided that the only watch I need is a Sub so I got rid of everything except my Sub and a Breitling Blackbird that my son really wants when the time is right. So, my daily for a long time has been my 114060 as I really prefer the Sub to the Sub Date. My wife wanted me to get a watch for our 20th which is next month. I've been on the hunt for a 124060 but no luck. I stopped by an estate watch shop locally and they had a 41mm Sub Date with black bezel in stock at $23K (yes, you read that correctly). They also had an SD43 that was over-priced. I fell in love with it and immediately contacted a trusted seller who I've worked with over the years. It arrived on Tuesday. This watch is awesome. Here is a really crappy pic that I took in the mirror with my cell phone. I still have my name on lists with 2 ADs hoping to get a 124060 at some point, and when I do I will likely sell my 114060. This SD43 is fantastic. The proportions are perfect IMO.

That is all the watch that one really needs. Congrats on your purchase. And that other $23k asking price? wow.
