New Submariner for 2000 pounds !

Hi there everyone, my name is KC and i'm new here. I have saved up 1200 pounds and by September I should have 2000 pounds, and there is one thing i want, (well a winning lotto ticket too but back to real life)

A Submariner 14060.

Am i right in thinking that the difference between the 14060 and the 16000 and LV is that they have the date dial !

I have been looking at Omega Seamaster, which is cool but having done quite a lot of research it came down to this -

A quote from someone on this forum 'When you say you wear a rolex you don't need to say anything else'. The quality of the movement and materials are also important to me.

OK, so Can it be done for 2,000 pounds (i am a UK resident)

The best I can find on the net is -

http://www.deliciouswatches.co.uk/in...em&watchid=677

Our Price: £2,750.00 RRP: £3,380.00

Maybe I ask to much

For a new one, not a chance. For an older one, maybe 5-10 years old, maybe you could get closer to the £2000 mark. The problem is, it's a steel Rolex sports watch, they hold their value better than anything else in the range. Best thing to do would be to look at second hand specialists - as you're in London, check out the Burlington Arcade, that should give you a better idea of whether you can get anything in budget.

Hope this helps

I just picked up a nice used 14060 for US $2365 with box, papers, etc.

You should be fine with 2000 GBP if you shop around. Try ebay too.

Good luck on your quest..

The 14060 and newer 14060M are great watches, built to the standard to expect from a Rolex. Each has an original style stamped end-link and clasp Stainless bracelet. The 14060 has the 3000 movement with a balance cock, and the 14060M has the newer modified (the M) 3130 movement with a full balance bridge..

The 16000 watch is an early Date Just, so the movement is the same except it is a 36mm watch (the Sub is 40mm) has an acrylic crystal and has a date.

The LV is a 16610 Sub Date with a modern 3135 movement, solid end-link bracelet and larger markers on the Dial.

14060's (1989-1999) should be about 2,500-3,200 USD... 14060M's a bit more as they are post 1999

The 16000 Date just should be under 2,500USD for an older one to 4,000USD for a newer example.

the 16610 would be closer to 3,500-4,500 USD depending on the year, and a newer 16610LV would be a bit more.

Thank you all for replying to my post. I see that you all talk about dollars. There is one thing you have to understand (if ur from the USA)

You can not jus convert 3700 (ish) dollars to 2000 pounds and think that's the end of it. Although my knowledge of Rolex is minimal, for most things we (Brits) just pay more for the same thing as someone in the USA.

I can not really afford to go over 2000 pounds. Mind you pdxrolex, where did you buy that rolex from ! For that kind of money, I could fly over to the US, buy it and come back to the UK (on like a 3 day break) and still have change !

You would be well advised not to give your money to the website you mentioned.
A used 14060M (2004) can be had for around £2300 and a 2007 model will be around £2500 from a reputable dealer.

The other difference between the 14060M and the latest 16610 is that the 14060M retains the lug holes which makes changing bracelet slightly easier.

I've heard lots of horror stories about delicious watchs, they say they have the watch in stock, take your money fail to deliver, then it takes you months to get your money back.. I can send you the links if interested, I suggest you don't use or believe their pricing..

Wow, thank you all for the head's up on that website.

I did find another website - www.thewatchsource.co.uk

has anyone had any dealings with them.

I can see that there are people on this forum that sell watches. Are these
individuals or do they have retail outlets ! I would be cautious of buying from an individual from this forum.

You should check out

http://www.fraserhart.co.uk/Home/tab...0/Default.aspx

There was a post today from a guy who purchased a Daytona from them and he could only praise their professional methods.

If you don't have the money right now, hang in there for a few more months till you save up enough for a jolly good watch.

It will give you 25 to 50 years of joy.

My olders Rolex is from 1966. Still working perfectly and keeps time like you wont believe.

Perhaps you haven't noticed that even the V serial 14060M has pin holes.

Yes this is the only Rolex that still uses the pin holes.

Interesting bit of trivia.

Probably the 14060m. These still have the lug holes.

Still, an excellent price especially if the COSC version.

Yeah serious, it's a 2007 model that they hadn't sold, so it was discounted. Very high class estab! In Warwickshire.

Well, I just saw one for sale for USD$3000 so you're not too far off. I would also take the advice to stay away from delicious watches as mentioned earlier. Good luck and post pictures after you find one.

macstiltskin,
You must have a very smooth technique as Pragnells never normally offer any type of discount. I tried it when thay had a V serial SD in stock and they would not budge at all on the price.
Please tell us your secret technique!!
