Rolex 6426 with 3-6-9 dial! Help!

Hey guys, I need your opinion!

I have access to this 1960 Oyster 3-6-9 dial. It is on a nice 6635 rivet bracelet from 1969. What I am told: Bracelet links are tight and must have gotten very little use. The timepiece has been cleaned oiled and adjusted, keeping time within 1 minute per day. No major dings or gouges. The dial is original unfinished with patina. The markers and hands have expected wear. No original box or papers.

Can you guys tell me what you see and most importantly, what is she worth?

When a seller says the watch has been serviced and is running within a minute per day, my BS-meter goes off. Not a deal-breaker obviously, just an annoyance.

Advertised prices seem to be in the $2,000 to $4,000 range.

There's only one of these like yours on eBay. It's not as nice as yours, and is priced at $5,700. Given that eBay pricing is high, due to fees, I'd say yours might be worth $5,500--$7,000.

Crazy prices for this watch IMO, regardless of the specific dial markers. Entry level, hand-winding, non-chronometer, 34mm. Average condition. No interest above $3k for me, even with the nice bracelet.

I agree with this 100%. For $5.5k, you can get a really nice condition Datejust from the 80s or 90s. Automatic, chronometer, 36mm, etc.

I think the 369 is quite desirable one and certainly there are collector who love to collect this dial. I personally love this dial design very much. Regardless of value and I will just focus in enjoying it

Sounds like a good theme for a collection. How do you feel about a "12" (and other brands)? ;-)

Advertised prices and what they actually sell for are two very different things. A quick search on eBays sold listing for the 6426 brings in prices under $3K for pieces on a bracelet.

Will an older model with the applied Rolex name and the 369 dial bring much more than that? I personally dont think so since its a small manual wind entry level piece and isnt in favor with most collectors these days.

The wild assessment above stating $5-7K are a fantasy IMO.

Definitely very nice and balance dial! However dial aside, I feel the memovox is too thick and not comfortable to wear. Love the light and small size of vintage (just my personal preference).

Rarity and value are not the same thing ... at all. Ultimately, it's still a 34mm Oyster with one of a huge number of dial variants. Quite a few of them may be uncommon, but that doesn't make them valuable. Don't get sucked into the "Explorer-dial" hype created by dealers. If it were a pre-Explorer Ovettone with a 3-6-9 dial, it would be a different story, but it's not.

I'm not criticizing the watch, it's nice. If you like it, then buy it, but you shouldn't have illusions about value.

The JLC Memovox is a stunning watch. I'm waiting for one to come along. After years of collecting I've realized that great watches come to you when they're ready. Got to be patient - you can't force it.

I love the OP's Rolex Oyster. Rather than being entry level, I'd say this is where you go when you already have all the standard pieces and your tastes become more refined. Just like with the Memovox

I agree. Being opportunistic and open-minded is the way to get the best watches.
