Vintage fans - show me your dials....

So I bought my 2nd Rolex last week, a 1979 34mm Perpetual Date.
I wanted a larger dial (I've always had 26mm, so believe me this feels like a comfortable, huge, casual, slouchy, almost grungy Rolex- grungy Rolex, hilarious). I felt like my 26mm is beautiful, but works better for dressing smart, and who is doing that in 2020?!

I thought I was getting a vintage because I couldn't afford a new Rolex right now, but then it arrived, and I realised, I am a "Vintage Rolex Person". I LOVE it. I love the mystery, the unknown, the story behind it, the fact that it still looks so DAMN GOOD after 40 years. I love that it was made the same year as my Husband! I read an article recently that said something like " a vintage Rolex is like an adventure, you put it on and wonder where the next ding in it will come from."

I'm totally hooked, so thought I'd share. Can't wait to see what Rolex number 3 looks like, but what I know for sure is she'll be a vintage.

Anyone else want to share their vintage dials?

Those older 34 mm Rolex references have a dedicated and growing fan base. And they should -- they look great, run well, and avoid almost all of the obsessive focus on "original", "unpolished", "mismatched" etc that plagues vintage sport models.

My wife has been wearing that size since she saw one I bought early this year. She likes the smooth bezel.

Glad you are enjoying it.

The kid for the kind words. It’s a 16750 though, so pretty standard E.

That dial tone is just friggin’ amazing! It’s so low key but yet so elegant and present!! If my wife would hear me now, she would think I totally lost it..it’s like describing a Van Gogh : )

Thanks for the huge compliment LK. My wife just cracked a little smile. Her dad left it to her in 2015 when he passed. He bought it new when they were on a family vacation in Curacao, she was only five years old at the time.
