Sharing Watches

Hey everyone!

Was curious about who all shares their watches with their spouse/significant other? For context, I naturally do not have very big wrists so I will probably never venture above 40 mm. My wife recently caught the watch bug and now she's all about it. I have a 36 DJ coming for her for our anniversary this year (She has no idea).

Anyway, I'm also waiting on a 36 OP Silver from my AD and just started thinking that were probably going to end up sharing the watches in the end.

Just curious to see who else out there shares?

I bought my wife a Cartier Santos last year and watching her hammer and drag the bracelet across a tables or desks always make me squirm.

I told her I wanted her to enjoy it and use it as she pleases, but to keep in mind that if she wants it to remain nice looking without scratches she had to pay a little more attention to surfaces etc.

She understood, but also didn't want a watch she had to be careful with. Said no worries, if she scratches it up too much to the point that it bothers her, we'll just get it polished.

Even if my watches fit I'd have a seriously hard time lending them to her. I'm very careful with all my belongings - whether it's a $20 calculator, a $5 mousepad or a $20k watch I treat them all with equal care.

My wife has her own watches

But she wore my Pepsi gmt for years. Bracelet adjusted. Large difference in wrist size

She has 3 watches that I bought for her that she picked out and never wears. I don't have to worry about her wanting to wear mine.

I have a 7.5” wrist so 40-44mm sits well on my wrist. My wife on the other hand has a tiny wrist (not sure what size), and a 30mm is perfect on her, and 34 is pushing it. 36 would be max. (She doesn’t like anything over 34 either, not just my opinion).

So while it might be nice to be able to justify more watches for me, that she could share, it’s very unlikely.

The one caveat was that when I put my Daytona on a RubberB and put over her wrist, I could see the twinkle in her eye that screamed “hey I could maybe pull this off.” I haven’t put that on a RunberB since then... lol

No. My wife is not interested in watches. I guess I'm lucky.

My wife likes Rolex, but not a watch fanatic. She has her 36 dj collection and leaves me to my collection. All happy

My mrs has about the same size wrist as me (skinny) and has pretty much become the custodian of my Explorer (with my blessing). I have to have done something bad for her to get the GMT!

My wife doesn't wear a watch. She could care less because I'm the official time keeper.

not yet, but we do plain on sharing. 36mm looks good on both our wrists.

My wife and I do share a little, but have never purchased a watch with that specific intention. Size wise, 36-42mm seems to work for both of us.

That said, there are watches I will not let anyone else wear !

I can wrap my entire hand with overlap around my wife's wrist. That's going to be a no from me.

See this is my exact situation. Not buying these to share specifically, but just see us sharing long term in the sense I could see her wanting to wear mine and to change it up I might wear hers with them both being 36s.

I've sized a few 40 mm watches for her when I'm not wearing them and she's wanted them for specific outfits. We have our own watch collections, but I definitely see a little cross-over in that 36-40 range.

That said, there are a couple of watches that are mine and mine alone

I told my wife that I couldn’t size the bracelet and it had to be taken to the AD since they had “special” tool for it. She bought it., lol.
She does have OP 39mm, DJ 36 and Seamaster 300M co-axial. So win win for both! I just couldn’t watch her scratch all my watches!

My wife has zero interest in watches, I would gladly share if she did. Consequently she never notices when I come home with a new watch, not that it would matter to her. I think.

My wife loves watches but has all her own. She drives her own sports car too! I’m a lucky man...

Hell no. If you saw how she treats the 2 Rolexes I bought her over the years you'd never let her touch your watch. They are all scratched up and she tosses them around like they were a Citizen. No, if I'm gonna have scratches on my watches -I'm gonna be the guy that does it.

My boss / brother tells me to wear his DJ41 blue dial every once in awhile since he doesn’t wear it that often. Done and done!

too many links removed from the wife's DJ. Otherwise I would absolutely steal that from her now and then

We share our Daytonas, but she usually doesn't like white metals as much. We also do matching couple's watches - where we have different versions of the same watch.

Same here! Awfully lucky our wives don’t have the bug and I am doubly blessed that my wife doesn’t begrudge me the expense. Cheers!

My partner (male) has zero interest in watches and doesn’t understand the attraction... sigh. So, they’re all mine to enjoy.
